We're did u get the Audi a1 coil packs from?

Would these be any different to the coil packs from the vRS? Think I'm going to get some new ones just to reduce the chance of any faults further down the line. The spark plugs regularly get changed, so might as well keep on top of things and change these as well, as I get the odd rough idle for a short period sometimes.

  • Back to this topic. I had the car on rolling road today and I must say that the results were very impressive. So impressive I nearly want to call BS on it myself.  This rolling road had very good fee

  • Mine is Revo stage 1 and yes I have had miss fire issues once and was cured with new plugs/coil packs but car runs well it was 211 at last week's RR session and I get reasonable mpg so can't complain.

  • Enjoy your new car. There are only around 3,000 Mk2 vRS in the UK, and hopefully all are now sorted due to the fantastic Customer Service from Skoda UK.   vxh26 does not have a Twincharger as far a

Has anyone had a map done by Apr to try and compare revo do a lots of good maps on Ford and other dealers just wondering if people are slightly judging by the odd case of misfire or are there maps not friendly with the vrs engine

Lots of people have gone with APR, including myself, and all been happy with it I think!

Dose anybody reckon these would be good with NGK 7s?

Certainly no harm in trying. That website has several brands of them, but I'd think NGK ones should be of a good quality. Think I'm going to get some as my car is mapped, so hopefully help keep things running smoothly.

Well I'm running stage 1 APR. With the plans of goin to stage 2. And iv got the rough idal. Iv also got the NGK 7s in as well. Hopefully I will have them this week and will let you know what they are like

Stock plugs out and NGK 7s in. Car is running smooth, haven't really been pushing it though. I must say that I really like the added power when going at higher speeds. For example at 80kmh when flooring it, the car really moves!

The stock plugs had done approx 6K miles and came out looking like attached. I don't know which number is which, but 2 of them seem to have been running hotter (3&4 I assume). How do these look to you?

Also just did my first oil top up since November. 4300 miles and took 0.5L to top up

Or a more sensible option go for R8 Red Top coil packs

(I know the linked ones are in Oz but it is just as an example)

I've heard before about the R8's coilpacks but how easy is to have these installed? It looks like the engine cover might have some trouble going back in.

Laars, plugs look good, no oil burning evidence present there. The No4 looks like there is some detonation in that cylinder, see those darker colour dots?

In theory they should all look exactly the same, the best is No1 and No3 are perfect, No2 looks a bit hot. Over all they look much better than most of the plugs I've seen so far from a MK2 vRS.

@newbie69 - to the best of my knowledge they are a straight swap and identical dimensionally to the originals.

Great, thanks Jabozuma for the comments. I might have the plugs in the wrong order in that pic, as it was garage doing the job, I don't know which plug came from which cylinder.

To me it looks as the "head" is protruding by smt like 3-4mm whereas the stock coils are level:

Would be nice to hear from someone who's actually installed them on his vRS.

Nope, the connector comes "over" the "socket" on the coil pack

Coil itself, not the best photo but shows you the "step down"

Here you have the plug pulled in the middle, next to the compression tester hose.

I suspect the good ones should be in the middle, pots 2&3 and the "bad ones" pots 1&4.

If I understood correctly, you mean that the connector will be twisted 180 degrees in order to attach to the R8s coilpacks as compared to stock?  Because I see the locking "tooth" to be on the upper side of the (red) coilpack.

Not sure to be honest :)

Actually yes, I just found this from a 1.4 TSI, not Fabia though:

Shows the connectors upside down, the release clips are on the upper side which makes the removing process a bit easier. However I am not convinced the cover can go back on as before without any modding.

Good find! The R8 coil packs would have to be substantially taller to pose any cover fitting issues. I'd love to see the data sheets for OEM and for the red top ones to compare them side by side but not able to locate both documents :(

The engine cover is not necessary as long as you keep the electrics dry in situations like condensation dripping from the bonnet, like I had this morning, frozen nights and sun splitting the pavement in the morning. I like the A1 ignition coils. I hope REVO now have a decent stage 1 map for CAVE engined, and really sorted for the CTHE. ? So who has a CTHE mapped now by REVO, APR, Shark Performance or anyone else?

Edited by goneoffSKi

Yes, that's why I want to keep having it on. I'll do some more search on the fitting. Any codes/links for the A1 ones? I guess they are a perfect fit as someone from here mentioned he had them already.

I sincerely doubt the A1 coils are any different to ours. S3 perhaps yes.

Just check the Audi A1 185ps coils numbers, some are the same as the 180 ps VW,Seat,Skoda, and you might spot the upgrade[improved] ones with the different plugs they used. They need not cost more, it was an Audi thing when they were dealing with the TFSI 1.4 failing the same as some CAVE seeing as the CAD is the same engine.

I'd love to see the tech spec docs for a standard ones and the R8 ones to be able to make an informed decision, otherwise it is just a bit of groping in the dark.

Good to have you backski.

those are the 1.8 20vt coils . allready confirmed by the dude who tuned the car

Back on the REVO discussion, I was just browsing a TSI FB group and yet another scirocco REVO stage 1 broke down this morning. Hard acceleration on 3rd and 4th gear, EPC and Engine Workshop lights came on, result cyl 1: 0 compression...  Haven't followed the Scirocco scene closely but from what people are commenting, there's a lot of those with REVO maps that have failed.
