Enjoy your new car.

There are only around 3,000 Mk2 vRS in the UK, and hopefully all are now sorted due to the fantastic Customer Service from Skoda UK.

vxh26 does not have a Twincharger as far as i know and never has, and probably never will,

he likes to Big them up,  and put down anyone that brings up the shortfalls or failures in manufacturing & quality control on a small percentage of them, if 20% of failures can be considered a small percentage?  (or just put me down actually)

and then tries to assist owners with problems & get some results to have a usable car.

There is a choice of the suitable Spark Plugs available at Motor Factors, or at a VWG Dealership parts desk,

so maybe do a little research on the latest available plugs, or ask a Dealership Master Tech what is advised to fit on a standard car.

But do not go with the 40,000 Mile Service Schedule Guidelines between changing the Plugs.

And the Skoda / VW Petrol is recommended as 98 ron with a minimum 95 ron

It is a good idea to use the 98ron , so in the UK that means Tesco Momentum 99, or Shell V-Power Nitro which are 99 ron minimum.

The others Super Unleaded, Sainsburys, Esso, BP etc might be 97 Ron minimum but worth using rather than standard Unleaded 95 ron.

I recommend the DENSO Plugs for a Standard 1.4TSI 132-136kw & also for one running Stage 1 or a Tuning Box,

i have yet to see sign of any of these failing, and the NGK do not have a long life IME when used in a Twincharger.

I use these DENSO,  not the VK20

  • Back to this topic. I had the car on rolling road today and I must say that the results were very impressive. So impressive I nearly want to call BS on it myself.  This rolling road had very good fee

  • Mine is Revo stage 1 and yes I have had miss fire issues once and was cured with new plugs/coil packs but car runs well it was 211 at last week's RR session and I get reasonable mpg so can't complain.

Bad news, unfortunately the R8 red coils are about 3cm longer than ours! So that idea is a no go at the moment :(

The coils on the best part store website, they weren't upgrades were they? Just replacement parts?

OK, so they are not a straight swap, this confirms it. Have you tried installing them? I can put a "dummy" in in a form of a 3cm packer of some sort to see if the cover fits...

my plugs are the NGK BKR7EIX :)

No, it would appear they aren't a straight swap for this engine. The guy reckoned he might have some clip type things to help them fit, but surely they'd need to sit flush and everything. He reckoned they'd fit fine, but when I sent him pictures and measurements just to confirm, he thought it was a problem, but could possibly be done.

I looked at it briefly last night. I do not think the cover is going to be problem. What is going to be a problem is that the plastic coil retainers - they will not be able to do much retaining any more :). It might lead to coils coming loose if no alternative fixing arrangement was to be installed. Conversely, having taken them out and how much force I needed to use to pull them out it seems like an unlikely scenario :)

I am missing the point of why anyone wants these on a Standard or Stage 1 1.4 TSI CAVE / CTHE,  unless it is for the look when the bonnet is open.  Most people drive with a bonnet on and closed.

Plenty of Value For Money Coils and Spark Plugs are available that perform well to around 220 BHP,

No misfires, no problems so reliability.

I see it as as a more powerful ignition system but much cheaper than Okada Plasma Packs. The benefits of stronger spark are numerous. Unless plugs are destroyed no misfires, stronger top end where more spark energy promotes stronger initial flame front. You could also increase the gap in your plugs which would make the car more frugal (more complete fuel/air mixture burning due to larger initial flame front) as well as more power.

If someone is fitting these, please put the car on the Dyno Before the New Ignition Coils are fitted & then again after.

If they cost the same or a little more and do have an effect of being an Upgrade to Economy, Performance and Reliability then

whats the worst that can happen.

(Buyer Beware Obviously,  be sure they are the real genuine ones you buy, not Copies (Snide),  so use a trusted seller.)

If you have a Valid Manufacturers Warranty running, 3 or 5 Years or a Skoda Approved Extended Warranty,

maybe best stick with the OEM or accepted for fitment Ignition Coils for the 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136kw CAVE / CAD / CTHE.

No power increases have been reported by changing to those coils, it was only a matter of reliability. Although people that are much more knowledgeable than myself on the 1.4 TSI particularities, claim that it doesn't make much difference if it's Bosch, NGK, Beru or stock ones as long as the car is fine. If not, better coils won't cure it so in the end I think I'll be going with the stock ones, just making sure they're the latest revision (ending in G I think). Not that I have had any issues. Stock coils still in after 56K km, last 10K stage 1 and all is good.

If you replace the coils and do nothing then yes, no difference really. It is all about the energy of the spark, if all of them provide the same spark energy then no point in doing anything really. That is why  I wanted to see the data sheets :)

So, Please.

To the Topic of the post.

We know about the CAVE 1.4 TSI from 2009-2012 Late,

& then the CTHE 2012 on.

REVO Remaps on the CAVE were pretty sharn IMO & others opinions and experiences.  Just a potential liability.

Not very good, rubbish, and others said great, fantastic, super dooper.

http://revotechnik.com/support/technical/14tsi-twincharger-engine-issues

....................

So that was then, and this is now.  2 years plus on.

& now REVO say they can do a Stage 1 on a CTHE.

?

Has anyone here had Stage 1 done on their CTHE from REVO, APR, Shark Performance or anyone else?

How was the Dyno Before & After?

What Plugs and Coils have you in?

How many Miles on the Engine Before & After the Stage 1 on your CTHE,

& do you like what the Stage 1 now gives you?

I think George that could warrant a separate thread here, I'd be interested to know myself without spamming this one any more :)

There are 3 seperate threads asking the same thing just started by me.  3 others by others.

I can easily revive one.

So basically, has anyone here got Stage 1 via the OBD on a CTHE Engine, and any Dynos or Information from having it done?

Surely someone with a CTHE has been along and has had it done,

or has a friend of a friend that has.

Or anyone spotted someone on a forum with a Seat, Audi or VW CTHE with a Remap by one of the companies, REVO, APR, Shark.?

http://www.revotechnik.com/product-details/software/skoda/fabia-mk2/95/stage-1

i wouldn't go and have my car mapped here on the pure fact thats a MK1 fabia in the picture for a MK2 remap

LOL> attention to detail is inspiring confidence as we can see

I accept that they are just using a picture of a Revo Dealers facilities.

But i do want to see a 63 or 13 plate Fabia Mk2 vRS with a CTHE Engine on a Dyno & the Dyno Sheet from a Stage 1 or Stage 2 Remap,

all i have seen so far are CTHE cars with a Dyno Sheet from a Tuning Box.

............................

I have seen a CTHE or 3 on a Dyno all standard on 99 & 102 ron putting out as much power as the '2015 VW Polo GTI

1.8tsi 192ps Manual

is supposed to by the Volkswagen Official scores on the doors.

George, did you try calling Revo and asking the question? They might have some stuff available and perhaps even some contact details of the people who had it done?

It's only a phone call :)

Spoken to them yes as others have.

As they say, 'We can do it'.

The answer they do not give is to.

Have you done it,  how many,  ? were etc   So what are the results ?

So when directly asked for CTHE dyno plots and contact details for their customers who had it done they refused/said they did not have it I gather?

Shock - Horror!

Random nosy parker phones manufacturer asking for details on their customers and manufacturer declines to supply said details?

Sounds almost as bad as VAG :x

^ I was going to write sth... but what's the point lol.

Actually vxh26,  i talked to REVO Employees & Dealers,  because its nice to talk, & not on the phone,

and not once twice or 3 times, several more than that.

Its since 2012 me and others have been discussing Stage 1 Remaps on the CTHE.

These cars and engines interest me and others.

I have had a REVO MAP installed just to see what the story really was, and i have done Dynos etc,

and can go Upload a Remap for Stage 1 right now if i wanted on a CAVE engine,

because its rather simple to do.

So can you please just take a hike if you have no interest other than in Trolling me,

I prefer not to take another ban from the forum, but really you pith me off.

PS

I never asked for Customers Details, even though it is often the case that you meet others

or know the people in your area with similar interests in cars,

seeing as its a Small World.

But asking for Details of Previous Customers Experiences,

then thats what this Forum & others is usually good for.

PPS

vxh26,

So whats your previous Skoda & VW interests & experiences, & what have you bought since rejecting the

Fabia as the car for you?
