I've always understood ref MOT that if something was present, e.g. spare wheel; fog lights, they have to be functional o/w its a fail. If they are not present OK.

The spare wheel has never been included in the MOT.

Only lights that are included under the Vehicle Lighting Regulations are tested, for example only the off-side rear fog light.

^ ^ Me as well, although on my Marlin the horns didn't work,(earth fault) the tester gave me the nod and said sort it when you get home, no other probs , just that, proving some use common sense!

Lol, I can remember many years ago take my non running Lambretta to a test centre in the back of an estate car. As everything that needed to be tested, could still be tested and it passed. i.e. the lights still worked off the battery.
