I'll have another play tomorrow. I did try switching bluetooth on/off. Letting the app connect and connecting manually in BT settings but got nowhere. Hopefully my 3rd adapter should turn up tomorrow!

Not so sure about this now. Bought a wifi OBD11 reader from Amazon. Bought Carista. Yesterday tried it on my Jan 2014 Superb L&K read all the codes so far so good. Thought I would try changing some settings. Changed the number of lane change flashes to 5, changed coming home lights to spots. Left it at that. Tried my wife's Corsa, could not get any readings, sent massage to Carista who suggested that it could be the wifi unit. Today came to try out the changes I made to the Superb nome of them had changed, did another scan and the Carista showed up as the new settings but still no change response from the car.

Any thoughts anyone?

Update:

Sorry forgot to update this post. Having contacted Carista, they helpfully explained that after making the changes, I need to go into the maxidot seating sand change the default to manufacture or something like that. This resolved the problem and all my changes were effective.

Changed the number of lane change flashes to 5,

this doesn't work on my 2012 elegance either. Contacted Carista customer support, but no reply yet.

However, the one-press unlocking feature wasn't accepted, and setting the rear fog light to 'enabled' actually disabled my rear fog light - I was hoping it would switch on the LH one.  Changing it back switched the single for light back on.  I enabled the rear tear-drop wipe & alarm beep successfully.  Also, every time I try to interrogate the modules (whatever the detailed scan option is), it gets to 100%, goes blank and crashes, on both an iphone 4S and iphone 5C.

Ah well, another defective device apparently :/

Given up for now, will just find someone with VCDS.

Quick question for anyone with a working Bluetooth adapter - what code does yours use to pair?

All 3 of mine use 1234, the adverts say to try 3 different codes. I'm wondering if different codes depict different hardware in the adapters.

I use 1234 and works perfectly

Well that blows that theory away!

I've managed to enable the one-click unlock, so it seems mine is a bit hit-and-miss.  I still can't get the detailed check to run without crashing, but I've cleared the three glowplug faults that I had (they haven't returned), and done most of the customisation I wanted, so it's good value.

The difficulty is understanding where the problem lies, with the software or the OBD reader. I have sent a debug report to Carista, waiting for their reply.

Right, had some success today :)

WiFi and girlfriends old iPhone 4 worked a treat.

Scanned and found a couple of codes, most useful being the headlight washers leading me to a blown fuse - washers now work :) Cleared codes fine.

And I paid for the pro version.

Worth £15 just to be able to turn on anti hijack and unlock all on first click.

Also quiet beep on lock/unlock which is handy.

Had less success with extra tear drop wipe on screen wash though - looks like it's activated in the menu but doesn't work. And coming home lights used the xenon headlights - not what I was after.

Will play some more tomorrow :)

Had a reply from Carista. Regarding the lane change, I need to go into the MFD and change the Settings --> Lights and vision --> Factory setting --> OK

This has resulted in my change indicators now doing 5 instead of the standard 3 settings. So a happy chappy and thanks Carista for the support.

This is in response to my post hashtag 129 and 137 above.

Strange, the factory setting on my Superb is for 3 flashes...

Ah! Should've searched better before I bought a Vgate VS450

Think I'll get one of these too as they're only a fiver - more things to play with  :nerd:

Is it worth moving these threads from their model-specific forums to the VCDS forum? (I found this via http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/364467-wi-fi-car-scanner/ in the Octavia II forum)

Cheers

Can you give me the code and other information to update the Carista to PRO version please?

what is the "Allow configuring daytime running lights via dash display" setting for, how does it work ?

Cheers.

For the Fabia?

The DRL's on the Fabia are turned on and off either using VCDS or by a simple switch on the fuse box. Some cars have the switch others don't.

Perhaps the Carista option allows the turning on and off of the DRL's using the same procedure as other models (indicator stalk) or Maxidot?

Me too, Bryan, and with VCDS changes can always be reversed successfully if a scan is done first - except for the well-known hidden Byte. But this device intrigues me and has me thinking about other software which can be used with a wifi dongle.

I'm going to give the free-ish one a try. The two times I have had the dealer change settings using VCDS they have inadvertently changed other setting too. At least this was I should be able to do it myself....

Some interesting reading. Might have to do some more research as my fogs as DRLs at 50% would be great for sub £20
