Featured Replies

Recon i can use / adapt the gunson easy bleed, as i dont have tubing that fits my funnels ><

There's lots of air in your gearbox, don't worry about that.

ok nice one should work then :)

6 speed gearbox 0A8
Gearbox oil specification: G51 SAE 75W90 (synthetic
oil).
– Unscrew plug for inspecting gear oil -arrow-.
The oil is at the correct level if the gear is filled up to the
lower edge of the oil filler hole.
– Tighten plug -arrow-, 30 Nm.
When topping up, pay attention to the following
points:
– Unscrew plug for inspecting gear oil -arrow-.
– Pour in gear oil up to lower edge of the filler hole.
– Screw in plug -arrow-.
– Start engine, engage a gear and allow gearbox to rotate
for about 2 minutes.
– Switch off engine and unscrew plug -arrow-.
– Pour in gear oil again up to lower edge of the filler
hole.
– Tighten plug -arrow-, 30 Nm.

I found garden hose fitted the gearbox fill hole perfectly when I did mine

Its the hose> funnel thats the issue, the funnels i have are too large, and will end up with gearbox oil all over the engine bay

So stick with your ingenious plan to use the eezibleed, just make sure you clean it VERY thoroughly before using it for brake fluid again.

Toolstation. Couple of quid for a set of funnels. 1m hose. Done. Go down side of battery with it and pour till it starts coming out the filler slightly.

Make sure you use the right oil. The stuff skoda and tps give you is the 20 ish quid a litre stuff. Thats not right its the more expensive one at near £60 a litre. Use the right one or it will bugger the box.

Makes the box noisy using the cheaper stuff. Put some on mine for a few weeks due to tps giving it me and I didnt look. Got the propper stuff and all quiet again.

Sorry I take it you have the 6 speed diesel box?

Glad my thread was helpful.

I'd still buy a cheap funnel that will fit, rather than using an eezibleed.

What will any residual brake fluid in the bottle do to the gearbox oil?

Also, as said previously, you'll have to ensure it's extremely well cleaned afterwards if you're planning on using again for brake fluid.

You'll also be there a lot longer than simply pouring in.

Sorry thats total. Was thinking of diff oil for my m5 which is near that a litre.

If you just ask for hearbox oil they give you a g60 iirc oil. The g52 is the right stuff i think
