Ah sorry, I didn't explain myself right.

The Amundsen has always been part of the Elegance/SE-L version, but between the MY15 run out and MY 16 intro cars it was free on the VRS.

The elegance/SE-L had free ACC and park assist for the same tine, that fifer is now give and if you want those you have to pay extra

Had email contact with my dealer today, (a few days ago he was unaware they were giving Park assist and ACC away in June).

He has checked with the factory and my order definitely includes both of the above!

Having said that given a choice - and having to pay for it, I wouldn't have bothered with either.

He is also going to check the CO2 figures as I was told by SUK that 16" wheels were rated at 107 g/km, whereas configurator and latest brochure both say 115 !!

Just to confirm, ordered a VRS in June and was told it comes with 'free'Amundsen, I'm assuming it's still the case and it's based on order date rather than build date?

Just curious too as to what paperwork I should have received when I ordered it? I just have an order form specifying vrs, colour and options I asked for along with the price breakdown etc. It doesn't give a complete breakdown of what should be included in the specification though.

Good luck - their systems all seem to suggest the 17 inch wheels are still 119g/km and it is just the brochure that has gone back up into band D of VED. Still at least Skoda re consistent, the German site also shows different figures (different from the UK and the web site and brochure are different from one another too)

I give up - car arrives tomorrow, I'll soon find out  :D

Picked my MY16 vRS up today. No booming, wrong SD card in Nav and lane assist and cornering fogs which I didn't add as an option? Didn't know they were standard on the vRS and not sure if this means I have high beam assist too?

Lane assist is standard on the vRS. Cornering fogs are £105 option while high beam Assist is a £300 option. (both of which you can turn on for free with vcds)

Haven't managed to get Park Assist to work yet but prob not worth paying for. ACC is good to have. I drove with it on the motorway the other day. Personally I feel its one of those features where I feel "how did I ever manage without this". Not sure I would pay £300 to add it, but given a choice to switch it on/off, I would deffo have it on!

When the Skoda roadside assistant chappie came over on saturday to look at my leak he said that in order to turn on the headlight assistant you needed to "fit an extra solenoid into the headlight"... was he talking about AFS rather than high beam assistance?

Edited by bob corb

Not sure about that. I just know from what I have read from here that you can enable HBA direct through vcds as the vRS has enough sensors to make it work (whether that is the same sensors as used by real HBA I'm not sure)

I also thought that AFS was standard on the vRS too. I'm sure someone else will come and provide better more accurate info than me.

From what I have read on here the vrs has all the right equipment to enable HBA through VCDS (whether that is the same equipment as if you had spec ed HBA I am not sure)

Also I thought that AFS was standard on the VRS too. (thought it was a xenon thing)

I'm sure someone will be on hand to provide better info than me soon though.

Yeah, the headlights on mine wk 21 vrs are constantly wandering all over the road so its either got AFS or they're not bolted down properly! I've not tried the headlight assisiant as I dont think its there and dont want to dazzle anyone.

Pic attached this time!

Which engine? The wheels only make a small difference, so the figure is going to be only slightly less than that for the 17 or 18" wheels (about 1-3 g/km usually).

ah but that can be enough to cost you more, the 1.4 SEL estate may be 121 g/km (ie £110 tax) or it may be 119g/km (ie £30 tax).

150 Diesel.

The figures that I were quoted came from the head marketing guy at Skoda, after I initially enquired about changing my order so that I could have 16's and not 17's.

At the time of order (5th June) there was no indication that SUK were going to allow that configuration.

I had previously achieved the same thing with our Yeti.

I think it was a mix of good fortune and persistence that paid off.

Apparently the factory had already been in discussions with SUK about adding the 16's as an option to the SE L (you could already have them on an S or SE), the emissions were the factor that forced their hand.

At the end of the day its only a difference of £10, hardly worth worrying about, but its a matter of principle...

The car has landed

happily smart link works very well (with android auto)

new screen is very clear on nav

BUT  the brochure is right on the 1.4 SEL estate VED figure, tax is £110 a year not £30, the configurator and the model page are wrong

more pics as and when the rain stops  (auto wipers work well )  :rain:

some android auto action, literally just plugged it in, set it up, played a bit and then headed back to my desk, more no doubt in the days ahead

Screen res looks loads better doesnt it :-) Android auto all looks pretty clever too.

If its not ridiculously expensive I might look to get Smartlink enabled on my GTD when it pitches up....being a company car not sure I really want to cough up for it though haha

good luck getting it activated - the standard line right now seems to be that it is factory fit only but I suspect that's because VAG aren't really sure what it is yet  :notme:

 Ouch!

Its awfully close to that bollard....

I think the reality will be that you order a "part" from your local dealer....said part will just be an activation key based on you VIN number. Its also likely to cost more than the factory option, in part because of all the admin involved.

Rather a shame VAG dont just see fit to activate it as standard on all their capable units...its a bit bloody tight IMHO.

was chatting to the dealer about this and his guess is similar to yours Pipsy but not available yet. He also said they had an Audi for a customer recently which had a nav unit fitted but it wasn't activated. Audi charge you for the SD card and then again for the activation. Apparently to get the nav unit (which was factory fitted) working was close to £500!!

Looks good Domhnall. How do you rate the dealer at Uphall?
