MY16

Featured Replies

@Scribbler us folks on the forum seem to know more about the new car than the folks at Skoda. Maybe Skoda's trying to emulate giffgaffs model where customer service/care/support is crowd sourced? Except I believe giffgaff's community members get some kind of recognition/incentives for their contributions.

Quite, my dealer said the same thing today. I told him he should read the forum.

I think the biggest difference between us and the dealers / SUK, is that we are bothered.

Generally speaking they are not.

Sad state indeed when their livelihood depends on it. And ours do not.

I found out that mine was also on that boat. Not sure of current location.

@GAFF  Seems the same as happens in UK , the transport companies shunting the cars around seem unpredictable. My guy in dealer couldn't say for certain when car would arrive. In Dublin/East area, they seem to go to Baldonnell first and then distributed out to dealers from there. Both legs of that journey are unpredictable. Don't know what happens for other parts of country.

Anyway, he's expecting cars on Thursday and latest Friday. Wants cars out for 152 reg. Spirit Sandyford had at least 6 Octavias in for PDIing over the last week. Imagine they're pre-bw22.

I suppose in the last number of years during the "boom time" cars are really selling themselves. Its obvious from Briskoda that the factory can barely meet the demand......realistically how much "selling" is required by the salespeople as the cars are selling themselves.

I do find it bizarre that when you making your 2nd most expensive purchase (1st house 2nd car) that you would not want to be fully aware of the car spec.

I dunno where you are gaff but in the last quarter retail sales figures were down again right across Scotland. Not sure if the rest of the UK is different but it's certainly not boom times yet, especially with so many job losses recently in sectors like the oil industry thousands and thousands of people have lost the jobs with thousands more having pay cuts.

As for the factory meeting demand, I ordered the car and 7 weeks later it was in Newcastle

The rest if the UK is having a boom time, certainly car sales are still rising and also exports. That's the problem with only giving one industry that when the cost of oil goes down, everything else becomes cheaper, but the oil industry contracts

 I'm in Ireland.

There have been many threads on people waiting up to 6 months for a car that could be turned around in 12-16 weeks (build to delivery), that can only mean that the factory cannot meet the demand.

I know in Ireland there was a limited number of vRS cars available for 2014 (Ireland's allocation), I'm sure that's the same in other countries. From a salesman's point of view its a waste investing time in finding out about the cars. Also I think the major problem is the lack of information being fed down from the regions to there sales people in terms on country specific spec.

My dealer was saying yesterday, that the 230 BHP VRS is going to be a limited amount, this dealer was only getting two.

He had just come back from the Superb dealer launch and was also saying that next year a cope version of the Octavia was being released!

Coupe? Tell me more!

Is that a pig flying I see next you will be telling us Audi are letting them do a cabriolet and the holy grail 4x4 on the VRS

Haha, even Seat dealer knows more 'bout Skoda cars lol

A good friend of mine works for the Skoda development center in Mlada Boleslav and when I told him 'bout Octavia Coupe for the next year, he literally burst out laughing :D

What a completely ridiculous Idea!

What is?

An Octavia Coup!

An Octavia Coup!

Why the hell not? I don't understand your view. Just because you don't like the idea Skoda shouldn't make one for all of us who do want one? It would be a halo car for the brand. Wouldn't sell in massive numbers but that's not the point. I nearly jumped brand to Audi purely for the aesthetics of the A5 coupe but couldn't get a deal. I Know its going to constantly bother me driving around in the new VRS seeing A5 coupes and thinking hmm should have held out for a better deal and got the A5. However if skoda did a coupe I would be like "take my money already!" The Octavia looks like a taxi hardly any surprise that they primarily get used as one. No for me some curvey lines like the A5 coupe and its a done deal.

Ah fair enough. Ireland has growth rate more than double the UK rate.

we don't have just the one industry, that one has been clobbered hard for sure but there are some others that are worth serious money, food and drink for example makes a lot of money. I'm not so sure the UK is booming, housing price increases don't make a boom (and large parts of the UK ain't seeing house price s booming either). Ireland's growth figures are double the UK's though so I can see why GAFF said what he said.

There must be some money floating around the UK....the only way an order could be in excess of 16 weeks would be demand outweighting supply.

Ah, but that's the county of Scotland, not the UK :-) :-)

yeah the county of Engerland is doing all the spending

Is the MY16 vRS estate cheaper than the MY15 ?

I rang SUK today to enquire about whether my car would have a CD player. It's definitely a my16 so no CD.

Told handler at SUK I was particularly displeased this had not been communicated and was also unhappy SUK were not offering any kind of resolution.

The parting shot from SUK handler was "if you don't like it, don't accept the car" fantastic customer service and a great start!

no its more expensive from the update the dealer showed me hatches on the whole went down and estates went up
