Help! can anyone assist me with which Breakdown cover?

Featured Replies

I have my car serviced 'specialist' outside of Skoda and am currently covered by RAC Breakdown.

Although I opted for the 'no claims bonus scheme' and have NEVER called them out since I joined them 9 years ago, my subscription has actually gone up!!

On reading the terms of my renewal letter I am absolutely gob smacked to see what they term as 'not covered'. I thought I was pretty fully taken care of but even things like tyre changes and battery faults are listed as not covered. I am too old to be changing wheels at the roadside these days.

Can anyone recommend a good national breakdown service who are honest and straight forward as I find the RAC use jargon that is easily misunderstood.

Harry.

Personally for my family it is RAC.

We buy lots of Fuel & Shopping from Tesco & use Clubcard Plus so earn lots of Points annually which then buys the 'Full Family Recovery' using Tesco Rewards, Onward Travel etc while drivers or passengers.

For Scotland and areas some distance away from Towns and Trunk Routes Green flag can be prettty good for getting Local Response and Recovery.

Thanks guys and sorry for starting a new post when one on the same subject was happening so recently :notme:

I have gone with Green Flag and got their 'Recovery Plus' for £42.40. They include things like Unlimited calls, misfuelling, home cover, courtesy car etc all of which RAC wanted extra.

I can even pay at 3.80 a month if I wish. RAC were asking me £66.00 and did not cover At home,Onward travel, Key replace,Courtesy car,Mis fuel, Battery,Tyres, etc. They also limit their customers to 5 call outs per year.

Auto Express recently put Green Flag in the top 5 Recovery Services.

Hopefully I will never need them, I haven't ever had to have a call out since I started driving Skodas and I'm on my 3rd Fabia   but to have cover is one of life's "necessary evils" I suppose.

These for me https://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/

Like yourself I have never had to use them yet, although previously used Greenflag twice, they were good.

i think I mentioned it in the other post, but if no- have a look at FLUX RESCUE, from Adrain Flux insurance.

If you buy breakdown with your insurance beware some of them have a distance recovery limit if you want it taken to the car make dealer. The one inhad dealings with was 10 miles over that you had to pay.

When you're buying check out the deals on Quidco or TopCashback you can get a decent discount sometimes through the cashback deals.

Does anyone know of any company that does  cover for 3months?   I don't need it for the Skoda but the "other" car is 3 years old in June and so the manufacturer's cover drops out but the new one order is due until September. I wouldn't bother normally but its the car we'll be going on holiday in.

Just use "Auto Aid" and cover yourself.

Auto aid is my choice to.
