Im a Skoda Newbie

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a Skoda Fabia 2001 1.4 petrol and it is my first car. I have had it for a few years now and have decided to avoid garages as much as possible - they don't look after it!!!!

I have had a few issues, so decided to get a Haynes manual and service it myself. This is when I really realised that the garages only do half a job and then break off as many clips as possible - no wonder it was always rattling!!!

I have done a full service and replaced parts which look like they haven't been touched since new!! I am getting the check engine light coming on intermitantly so I have gone and bought a Mini V2.1 Bluetooth Wireless Auto Car Diagnostic Tool OBD2 Interface Scanner.

Once this arrives I shall be checking the error codes and seeing if any of you handy people can help me clear it.

Thankyou all for having me

Regards

Will

Hello Will  :hi:

It's a good choice of car to learn to work on.  Nothing like fixing it yourself

Hi Will - Welcome to Briskoda

Hi Will,

Welcome to the forums,

VCDS is another piece of software that scans car engines etc. Maybe something to look into. However it is expensive.

Well done checking the car over yourself. At least you get an idea of what your car is like underneath :)

I am trying to keep all costs to a minimum as I have started my own fabrication company in the last 8 months - so tight would be an understatement!!!

But I will give the VCDS a look at for a month when I am flush - maybe if I fine I have over estimated my Tax - like that will happen
