Diesel particulate filters on Mark Two Octavia

Featured Replies

 Hello,

I am  posting this to help out my nephew. He has a 2003 petrol Mark One    Octavia ambiente 1.6 petrol  and is looking to change to a Mark Two Octavia. He has two chlldren and  needs the extra  legroom in the rear that comes with the Mark Two and is on a budget for his motoring.

He is finding that quite a lot of the Mark 2  Octavias are diesel. He is OK with that as long as they have a turbo to give him adequate performance, His concern is whether they will have a diesel particulate filter. He does not want a spf under any circumstances. He is is looking at early Mark Twos, no later than 2006. His regular  journey to work involves mixed motoring with some dual carriageway driving and some urban driving with traffic lights etc, about eight miles each way. I was under the impression that none of the 2004 to 2006 diesel  Octavias had a dpf but I obviously could be wrong. I know for a fact that 57 plate Fabia diesels did not have a dpf  as I had a friend who ran one but that doesnt necessarily apply to the Ovtavia range of course.

I know that there will be Briskodians who either run an early Mark Two Octavia diesel or have done and will be able to provide an answer to this question. I suggested asking his local main dealer but he says that they are very sniffy about you  asking questions unless you are having your car serviced by them.

                   Thanks in advance.

2006 1.9 PD BKC engine, - no DPF.

The 2.0 BKD is without a DPF up until 2010. Skoda were one of the last manufacturers to start implementing DPF's.

Bare in mind, a lot of cities and towns are banning diesels, regardless of whether they have DPF or not.

For example, Glasgow's ULEZ comes in in 2022. Diesels have to be EuroVI compliant, but petrols only have to be EuroIV. The fine for driving into Glasgow with a non compliant vehicle will start at £75.

Other towns and cities have indicated adopting similar schemes, so although it may not affect him at the moment, it may in the future.

The only early pre-facelift mk2s that had a dpf were the 2.0 vrs, scout and 4x4

If he wants to check look at the code sticker on the boot floor or in the service book...   Those with a dpf will have a 7GG code on it.
