Lane Assist

Featured Replies

Having lived with the car for a few weeks I thought I would persevere with lane assist to see if I could get used to it but after coming on for four weeks I'm still not sure

Do I give it a bit longer or just admit defeat , switch it off and only use if for long motorway trips ?

If you go into the car settings on the Radio, under Lane assist you can tick 2 boxes. Un-tick the bottom one and tick the top one

Thats how I have mine set up and I find it better, not quite as aggressive

Give it a try.

I have it on my optima. Switched off the lane keep assist as I can feel the steering wheel trying to 'guide' me. I have however kept on the lane departure warning which bleeps if I stray..without the auto correct!

Checked it and I only had the top one ticked anyhow , I have been playing with it recently but unticked them both today so will try that for a while

I find when on a motorway when it's windy the car seems a bit skittish, using Lane assist makes the car feel more planted

Disclaimer:-  " In my opinion "

I use it on motorways only and turn it off for all other journeys. I find it quite useful on the motorway!

i've no experience of this feature yet as I think it was turned off in the car I test drove.

Is this something which is going to cause me issues when driving on the open road when it comes to straightening bends etc, is the car going to try and stop me from straightening a bend and keep me in my lane?

I found it created a horrible 'dead zone' where the wheel seemed to do nothing when turned. Disabled the feature a year ago and never looked back.

I use it all the time and have found it most valuable on the longer motorway trips,...it also makes it easier when you need to peel a banana to have it switched on  :D  :D  :D

You know that you can toggle it on and off by pressing the left stalk button then right steering wheel button?

Only if you have ACC. ;)

My personal preference is to keep the lane guidance off and only have it react to crossing lines. That way I know I won't stray off my lane even if distracted but I don't feel it yanking the wheel all the time.
