where is the aerial

Featured Replies

My Octavia mk3 doesn't have a roof aerial where does it connect to the rear or front screen as I think a connection is loose As the radio reception is not great

Hatch or estate?

On the Estate the arial is in the rearwindow. The two topmost threads over the heated part of the window.

No, that's the hatch. In the estate, the aerials are in the fixed rear side windows

Its a hatch cheers

Estate has the ariel in the side windows at the back. The hatch I believe is the top two wires on the back window

Have to ask as I was behind a 63 plate octy estate and it had a fin type rear aerial when did it change to glazed aerials?

The fin is there if you have satnav, the radio has always been in the windows

Which bits will I have to remove to see the connection thanks

And bluetooth + as thats where the GSM antenna would be too.

Any car with a roof fin has nav, bluetooth + or a factory webasto parking heater or mixture of. Depending on the equipment fitted the part no of the fin would vary.

Ahh quite glad I don't have built in sat nav quite liking the aerial less look

Have I posted in the wrong forum I thought someone would have told me which bits of plastic moulding to remove. And which wire were the aerial wire or wires thanks

Someone will hopefully but I've not heard anyone else mention poor reception. So you may be stuck on this one.

If so I would be in touch with your local dealer as I would think this would be warrenty work

I stand corrected. I was sure it was in the rear window.

Well, you learn something new every day.

Is it the Dab of FM that's poor. If its Dab. Its probably bad coverage

What infotainment do you have?

recent Columbus models on 0360 and 0370 firmware seem to experience poor DAB reception, an upgrade of the firmware to 0390 apparently cures this.

It could always be a loose connection at the rear of the CD player unit in the glovebox though, before you go removing trim from around the rear windscreen.

I have bluetooth, but no roof fin as I don't have nav.

Bluetooth+ requires the aerial - there is an induction loop between the BT+ tray (indicated by the phone symbol embossed in the rubber mat) and the roof aerial to increase mobile signal strength. It has nothing to do at all with Bluetooth, so don't understand why they called it BT+

I have no idea what Bluetooth+ is, I just have Bluetooth and the phone box, but no roof aerial.

Does the rubber mat in the phone box have a mobile phone embossed in to it?

Bluetooth+ is the phone box and GSM aerial to boost the signal. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with Bluetooth.

It might not even be branded bluetooth plus in Denmark, the same way they market it simply as "Phone box" here in Finland.

True, the option may be called a different name.

Either way, if you have the gizmo that boosts the GSM signal you need a shark fin on the roof and the rubber mat in the cubby will have an embossed mobile phone.

Surely it would be better to take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it out as the car should still be in warranty. While I'm sure you're happy to take the car to pieces to fix it yourself at least this way they wont be able to turn around and say that you broke something later on.

I'd be happy to retrofit stuff in my car but things that might risk my warranty is a step to far considering the costs involved.

I have the rubber mat and the salesman specifically pointed out that the phonebox boosts the signal when placing the phone in the room.

But still, I have no roof arial at all.

Could it be because I also have the panorama roof?

Does the rubber mat have a picture of a mobile phone embossed in to it?
