K&N for a Fabia VRS 2005

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone know if K&N do a filter for a 2005 Fabia VRS ? If so do you know the part numbr.

Jules

If it's a filter your after, then you want a Green Cotton Panel Filter NOT a K&N, as the general concensus in the community is that the oil used on the K&N can kill your MAF Sensor! :thumbdwn:

Green Filters crop up all the time on ebay, keep a look out! Filter's are best used in conjunction with the cupra intake mod! Have a search around on the site, there's plenty of info on here!

The consensus is it can due to the K&N being slightly more oily compared to the Green. However, there is nothing to back that up and several members have been running K&N without issue. In fact, it is possible to damage the MAF when you re-oil the Green filter, so neither is 100% safe.

To answer the original question, yes they do - P/N is 33-2830 :D

Chris

Thank you Chris. You're too cool.

K&N rules.

K&N

ROFL! You can't make this stuff up. I've run K&N's in 2 of my previous cars for 80k miles and never had any problems with MAFs. I've also run Green for 30k miles on previous cars.

Of course, if you over-oil the element then it's going to lead to MAF failure but the K&N filters do not wear quickly and are not poorly made - next you'll be telling me your Green is a perfect fit in the Fabia air box ;)

The bottom line is if you clean and re-oil a cotton panel filter properly, you are very unlikely to have any MAF problems...........

You mean it doesn't?

If I was you do a search have a good read up and go for which one you want. I only went with the green cotton filter because it was cheaper thanks to briskie discount.

You "could" break from the fold and have a K&N.

I ran a K&N induction kit on my saxo for 12k/1year and it never killed the MAF. Though the saxo isn't a great example as it always went wrong

If there is the possibility of having a problem with the MAF because of the filter is it worth risking it?

May have nothing to do with the oil.

But hey we sell Green Cotton.

If you want to know what price PM me and I will get a price for you delivered to your door.

We have them in stock waiting to go.

Bloody hell, your ganging up on me! :slap:

I'm just speaking from my expierence and it's 3-0 to K&N so far...

K&N also do an induction kit for the Fab vRS if thats your thing

I fitted this today! Metal gauze filter, its made the note of my car sound deeper and i can hear what can only be described as the Rally 'chatter' noise u here when a rally car change's gear!

While i was doing this i noticed that a holding bracket had been snapped:

has anyone else had this problem?.

What have you done for cold air feed?

Its still the standard one for now, its just not pictured

oh right, you will have to let us know how you get on with it. Does it smoke more or less? Revs better etc.

I have only drove it for about 5min's since i fitted it but i havent noticed anymore smoke than usual.

as for the revs it does feel smooth but i have one of these fitted:

so my car revs different than the standard! the rev's got to about 2800 and then the turbo kicked in hard till 4000

Thanks for all the info and opinions. Obviously there are pros and cons to both types, so I'll have to go and think about it. I have used K&Ns on all my previous Discoveries and also on my mk2 Fiesta XR2 (Janspeed exhaust etc)- now that takes me back >20 years, so I kinda have a fondness for K&Ns. Jeez I am a sad old git- I've fallen in love with an air filter....
