Rear Shock Cover Replacement

Featured Replies

The pushrod on the rear shock on my car is exposed thanks to the foam at the top of the shock cover cracking through. It looks like it can be replaced by unbolting the end of the shock at the inside of the wheel arch, dropping the suspension arm and swapping the cover. Has anyone done this before and can the part be ordered easily?

This is the process for an Octavia, which looks pretty similar: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=67163200

They are the bump stops, they failed recently on my Octavia, see this thread with pictures...

The parts were cheap (£20-30 including the stone guards - genuine Skoda @ trade) and my local garage fitted them for about an hours labour - about £40.

I noticed too that they are starting to crack on the Superb also, poor design / low quality by the looks of it.

Crappy roads may have something to do with it where I drive :P... €15 for the part in the local dealers, which is about the same as the website I linked above once postage is added and it'll be in my hands tomorrow. Won't get to fit it till the weekend and another probably 200 km's time though.

The only thing I'm worried about is whether I have a 16 mm offset spanner. I have a set around the house, but they sometimes skip 16 as 15 and 17 mm nuts are more common.
