Hmmm..... Personally I wouldnt have told them. I know you should declare all mods etc. but when I was 17, my mate and I both had Vauxhall Novas, we both fitted clear side indicators (the tiny wing mounted ones), he told his insurance company and I diddnt.

His premium went up by about

I think you're right Goochie I probably shouldn't of told them. Oh well, you live and learn! And like you said it has still saved me money :o

diresct line didnt charge me infact i think it made it cheaper

Direct line didn't charge me extra either......and for the sake of

Another case of Great British insurance RIP OFFS :insane: :insane: :shakecan:

Im with Admiral and have cruise control they told me no extra charge as it is optional extra they also say that they will only replace/pay for the car as standard so even if you insure your mods they wont pay out for them. Complete Con IMO.

They do seem to be a weird bunch Admiral. Last year they worked out cheapest on Confused.com but after calling them up they went from

I think most insurance companies are the same SH@T! I had a claim with Tesco and they were a joke.

Sods have counted it as a modification for me... Surely that makes it more expensive. Also made me take Business cover because I drive to and from my 'other job' [special - I don't even get paid for "Keeping Surrey Safer"]! :(

Admiral... :finger:

Here's a tip. Phone the AA for a quote, then if your car is less than 3 years old you'll get another 10% off the price because you have Skoda Breakdown cover (provided by the AA)

They added just

I'm with Zurich for my new Octy. They asked if I had any options and I told them but as none affected the outward appearance of the car they were not worried about it. I'd imagine some companies would be funny about aftermarket mods which could affect control of the car though like adding Cruise Control.

It's all got silly after that guy in the US went into the back of his winnebago to make a cup of tea while driving along beleiving that the cruise control was actually autopilot control. You know the story. He rolled it several times into a field and then sued the manufacturer as it wasn't stated clearly in the owner's manual that you still needed to steer when you turn on Cruise Control. 6 figure payout too!

Now thats quite funny

I’ve never told my insurance any mods on my cars. If I had accident I would get my mate to pick the car up. He owns his own garage.

Just the sort of irresponsible driver who gets performance car users a bad name. How many other risks does he take?

When I changed my policy to Direct Line a few months back, they didn't want to know about any factory-fit options (such as cruise, xenons). Suits me fine as long as they replace like with like!

Now thats quite funny

Only in the good ol' US of A :rofl: - I hope

Yup he was a Septic Tank apparently!

You have to consider that the Insurance industry is the laziest industry on the planet, until it comes to them finding excuses not to pay out on your claim when all of a sudden they seem to wake up! Undeclared mods, other than cheap cosmetic ones, are easy for them to see. I think you are only kidding yourself on this one.

lol yeap well i've been doing it for over 10 years now not a problem. Easy to get a way with if u know how to work the law. U see if cause the accident maybe they would be bothered but if its not your fault thats a diffrent matter.

only thing id say is.... how would you feel if someone hit you who had not declaired their mods to their insuree therefore making their whole insurance void (therefore making them uninsured... making car illigally on the road).... meaning you have to shell out, and lose ncbs etc.
