  • An old school audi s4, easily 300bhp with a simple map, will make over 500 horse with twin ko4 upgrades.

  • If you really want to **** yourself go get your bike license.   1000hp/T for ~£5k   http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201505063233152 http://www.visordown.com/reviews/motorcycles/spor

  • Agreed.  I had an RSVR Edwards Rep Aprilia until a few months back and sold it after having litre superbikes for 15 years.  Got fed up with bad roads, the amount of traffic and couldn't get on as many

Well I have plumbed for a Jaguar Type S.

Does not fit the 250-300 hp, only a mere 200 hp with the 2.5 V6 engine.

This one has the 6 speed, ZF I think, auto gearbox.

Not a performance machine but a very comfortable one.

Incredibly cheap to buy.  Fuel consumption should be around 33 mpg for the type of driving I do.

The one I am getting looks to have a great history of only two owners and main dealer serviced.

Doing the internet search came up with the Top Gear Nurnbergring episodes and the Sting Desert Rose videos, sublime.

I always liked the front on them not so much the back.

I got a 3.0 V6 240hp as a courtesy car once when the Octy was in getting a bumper painted.

I drove it as slow as anything. I think having a big auto puts you into waft mode and it's nice just to bimble around.

It was older and not particularly well cared for but I was surprised how well it had lasted. Bit of a creak from one of the rear corners but other than that it was purring along just fine. the only thing that didn't work was the tv because the analogue signal is switched off now.

Enjoy your Jaaaaag

Loving the Jaaaaag.  Seeing the leaping cat on the bonnet about 10 feet in front is so stately.  (It does swivel so as not to impale any "Plebes" (to quote Andrew Mitchell).

Seems plenty powerful but have not let it rev to the 7K revs it is suppose to go to. Max Power is at 6800 rpm, hell's teeth.

Think it is an SE but not sure what that actually means.  15 gallon tank, please stay cheap petrol  (Brent below $50 currently).

V6 is quite a light car so power to weight about 125 hp/tonne.  Seems to handle well, better than I thought it would and think it might have the adaptive suspension.

Mid-Blue with white leather, nice colour combo I think.

SE spec gives leather seats, sunroof and a couple of other toys from memory. I do rather like them!

Audi A8 4.2 Quatro

You should get a nice one for 5K

The rotary engine is not only as smooth as a V12 but has a number of other advantages, as well as some disadvantages.

V6, 8, 12 are compact than in-lines but rotary even more so.

Rotary engines are not so rev limited as reciprocating engines, they hardly ever seize.

The combustion chamber shape is not quite so efficient but tubo'ing helps that.

Just a shame it has not received the same sort of development as piston engines.

I worked with the Norton twin rotary road and race bike, which won the Isle of Man one year with Steve Hislop. The racing RX7 were also fab.

Here is a (1.3 litre) rotary producing some off the charts hp.

A 1.3 litre maybe, but theres no exhaust stroke.. So if you work out the CC the same as you would with a 4 stroke.. Its actually a 2.6 litre.

Which is closer to the sort of fuel economy they get.

This one does not have a sunroof oddly.  Leather and Lecy front seats.   Fuel computer shows 30 mpg so not so bad and I can usually do better as my runs tend to be long.

E36 m3, no brained really as if you buy a nice one and keep it nice it will go up in value, you won't ever get one as cheap as they are right now and they are a hoot to drive.

Are there any under £6K that are tidy?

320hp is nice.  Last E36M3 was 16 years ago but the E46s are loads of money.

Neighbour has a current model M3 and the sound is beautiful.  Sadly got stolen and returned as happens with M3s being such as target for thieves.

My choice is one of these I wonder how many people know what it is?

It may even be something to give Bossfox a challenge in his Yeti.

I am not very good at these sort of games but I will start it off, Range Rover with a tweak 4.2/5 litre?

Or is that a transverse engine (told you I was not very good) old Golf Estate?

Vauxhall Frontera?

At first I thought it was a Lada Riva estate.

That doesn't look a bad shout

Is it a Shogun or a Nissan X-Trail?

Lol that lada riva is close but not quite.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well had the Jaaaaaaag a few weeks now and loving it.

Took it to Cambridge and back, reckoned it was doing about 35 mpg and that includes blowing off a  Land Rover Sports (in name not action).

Definitely recommend the S type as a cheap car.  My one only 201 hp but there is always the other versions at 250, 300 and 400 hp all cheap to pick up but, a part from the 2.5 and 3 litre, not so cheap to run.
