Bluetooth obd readers

Can anyone recommend one from ebay? My brother bought one and I tried it in my Octy II but it was physically too big to fit.

I was hoping there would be a smaller version that I could use whilst mobile. Is there such a thing as an extension cable? That looks like it would hit my leg.

That's the one my brother has, the big rectangle surround seems to hit the interior trim and stop it going all the way into the socket.

I have a wi-fi one , It works perfectly with ios devices

How odd.

Mine seems to have a bevelled leading edge like the picture of the black one above. Maybe that makes the difference for it going in.

I have this one and it fits fine in my PFL Mk2 VRS

Be warned to do your research - I assumed bluetooth would work with everything but you need Wifi if you want to use iOS. Borrowed an android tablet to check it works (it does, very well) and have an android HU on the way :)

I have a iPhone which one will I need then?

I am android on an m8, I was looking at an android head unit and as soon as they start introducing maxidot nav integration across the range I will get one. I have to admit to being underwhelmed by the unit my brother got for his new corolla. It has no way of rebooting and suffers constant lockups and app crashes. Not sure the technology is quite there yet. I would liken it to a cheap android tablet.

Was looking at this recently. Will it fit in a FL ?? What android app are you guys using with these!??

Can't comment on the FL as minds a PFL but torque is all you need, well worth 2 quid

This is the one i use. Works great. I used it on my old mk1 and did a scan on the mk2 when i first bought it. I've also used it on my son's girlfriends Lupo to trace a faulty HT lead. Like mentioned buy the torque app from the play store.

You need a Wi-fi one . As Bluetooth OBD will not work on ios . I am currently using a wifi OBD works great with iPad and iPhone .

Purchased OBD Fusion and Dashcommand from app store

I have the same one, it was a bit of a tight fit but it did eventually fit.

I have an ELM327 dongle that i've used on previous cars with no issues but had the same issue as yourself with the interior trim. I removed the OBD port from the trim so i could check my codes.

For a long term solution i will need to buy a wifi dongle for ios. Any recommendations for those?

You have a link for the right one?

I have the exact same as this one

I bought it in India by ebay .

I guess for ebay UK you should go for this one

I had other ones in the past but it never worked for me so after 6 months or so I contacted my ebay seller and got the one I mentioned above . It has very low profile , rather than always on when plugged it has a power switched and it turn off automatically when disconnected  . Not to mention Plug and play no need to manually configure the IP in ios

And the best part is it works for both android and ios (tested with my Nexus 4 . Though for android there is some walk around in android.

I have now ordered one. A couple of you mentioned Torque for android, does this allow you to reset the service interval ?? I can't get the service interval to reset manually.

Just tried to do a quick scan using my reader today. I have the black/orange one like in the first picture. It won't connect to read the ecu at all. Tried several times but no joy. Connects to the phone via bluetooth but when i try to scan for faults it just says not connected to obd interface. Connect and try again. I know the reader is good as it worked on my mk1 no bother. The red light on the reader stays on permanently the other orange ones flash randomly so I'm certain it's connected ok. Any ideas anyone?

Nope.

Not to state the obvious, but are you sure its shoved fully into the socket? If you can reach the backof the OBDII connector, hold it steady while you plug the adaptor in.

Tbh no I'm not sure!! It does look like it fouls on the plastic trim but the red light is on with others intermittently. Someone mentioned about the port unclipping off? I had a quick look but couldn't figure out how plus didn't really want to mess about too much. Does anyone know if all the lights on the reader should stay on? I never had bother with the old car so didn't take much notice!!
