My vRS has an annoying squeak, and I cannot for the life of me work out what it is.

 

I am not mechanically minded in the slightest but it appears to be when I am travelling at low (sub 40mph) speeds and sounds like the wheel could be scraping against something.

 

It does disappear when the brake pedal is pushed 9/10 times, but not always.

 

Brake pads potentially? Although these were replaced last year, maybe I have developed a lead foot......

 

Any help or hints of what to look for welcome.

Sounds like rear brake pads sticking to the disc.

 

Do they feel hot?

 

Can be easily cured with calliper release springs

Sounds like the brakes.

 

Could be a build up of brake dust, stone stuck in the pad or seized brakes.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys, will try and get out to the car on my lunch break and have a quick look.

 

I had read about the release springs, think I will order them anyway as it doesn't look like to much of a job to fit them.

Pads seem okay, but brakes are very hot after driving.
