Visually etc. My car of the day -today

wo old school Triumphs today, in need of a little TLC though, especially the Vitesse

I like the Vitesse more, at least in part because it's a drophead rather than a saloon (there is, at least in principle, also a fixed head coupe with a hard top but a similar roof line to the drophead).

I’ve a soft spot for the drophead Vitesse too. The first car in which I exceeded [an indicated] 100mph. Sadly not mine nor me driving; but a fabulous day out when I was just 17yo and learning to drive.

Seems ages ago now - actually it is ages ago now!

Seen this afternoon in Maresfield, East Sussex:

Bit lopsided and with a dodgy 'zorst, otherwise looked in quite nice nick 😎

Gaz

I do not see as many of these around as I used to.

Dear lord that is lovely.

Not my fav colour but the XK120 and XK150 (and D-type) are some of the prettiest cars ever made

I like the cloak of invisibility with this. It would have cars slowing down I expect as arrive from behind.

Very likely to be thought a Q car.

Saw a small gathering of Ford enthusiasts up at Beachy Head. I was drawn to the Mk1 Fiesta, but then had to admire the time and effort that went into the '71 Mk1 Escort, which was running an ST170 engine on TB's:

That Fiesta looks like an original Supersport - I always liked them but it was not to be (I ended up with a Chevette...)

EDIT: - looks like it could be as its an '82 1298cc according to the DVLA... if it isn't it's a decent copy.

Mrs Gaz had a 1981 1.3 in 1987 in two-tone blue above silver. We think it was a Sport, rather than a Supersport. It replaced a 1.1L (but was never as good). I worked in LA transport at the time and we had Chevettes as fleet cars (amongst others). They were really hit and miss - I remember one, brand new, being rejected because of roof rust, and another, also new, going back for using a litre (might've been a pint, my memory fails me) of oil every 500 miles.

If it was blue over silver it was probably a Bravo??

My Chevette was pretty good in those respects just a weird green colour

Shame about the colour scheme.

I believe I saw a Lotus Elite or possible an Eclat on the road between Perth and Dundee, never seen one before

Lotus Elite Type 75 0r 83, dependant on age.

It was on the other side of the road so just a flash but very distinctive.

Saw this little gem from 1980 this afternoon:

Spoke to the owner - it's his seventh Fiesta 👍 Tip top condition 😎

Then I saw this:

I tried to get closer, but a McLaren can seemingly outrun my 8mph mobility scooter - who knew 🤷‍♂️
