What did you do to your bike today?

Featured Replies

Super Adventure is really KTMs tourer, the Super Duke is when they stuck two fingers up to every other manufacturer. I've only had a short go on one and knew that if owned one I would have a licence for long.

Hope I don't wake up to that much snow. Rear wheel drive and summer tyres means I'd have to borrow the wife's car as mine won't get far.

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

Oh. Apart from the temptation of half decent tyres ;)

FINALLY got out!

Friday morning the Mrs tells me she forgot to mention she's out at a comedy night so I was all alone, then a mate pops up on FB asking if the roads were dry enough for getting the bike out...... you know where this is heading. Quick power nap, get the bike out, tyres, oil, blah blah. It was about 9 degrees when we left so not too bad. We met up, I only stalled 3 times in 1 mile due to forgetting I wasn't on my scooter on the way to meeting him. Another guy come along too, we razzed down to the Ace Cafe. Stuck to motorways, it wasn't the most exciting ride but just good to get out tbh. Impressive turn out at the Ace, given the time of year, my mates R1 got plenty of attention, not my thing but it is a pretty bike and sounds quite cool. I was eying up a MT10, a bit more me that, very nice looking bike.

Coming home was cold, I've lost my winter gloves, so just used my dads leather ones, they were not warm at all. If it wasnt for the cold hands it would have been ok. The ride has at least got me excited about the bike again, got a little list of bits I want for it, service and tyres are top. My bike was very quiet compared to the others so I was thinking about getting a decat then remembered today I've got baffles in! Took them out, sounded a bit more fruity, will give it a run this week and see if I like it.

Fitted Givis with quick detach frames and prepared for the arrival of the Akrapovic can

Today I rebuilt the gearbox on my Tiger Cub, new kickstart pawl, put it all back together nicely and could I start it? Could I hell. After a lot of checking points gap, timing, plug condition, found that the spark was extremely weak. Took the plug cap off and spark was very strong. Checked the impedance of the plug cap, should be 5K Ohms, as it's a suppressor cap, and found the actual impedance to be 15M Ohms. No wonder the spark was having a problem. Hopefully a new cap will have it running sweetly again.

Good to hear you got out Matt. Got you back in the spirit of things huh?

I did just under 200 miles on mine yesterday too. Up to Squires cafe n around.

Feels ace to get out again doesnt it!

Yeah, by the time I got a few miles down the road it was all good! I've missed it so much, thankfully I still **** my pants at wacking the throttle open lol.

I need some winter gloves, was going to nip over to a J&S outlet store today but went gym instead, might go over later in the week. I dont need anything amazing, just for the cooler mornings on the scooter for work.

Meant to put this in on Sunday!

Did 140 odd miles around South Wales, the valleys and north of Brecon. Two nice cups of tea at the Oasis bus station in Abergavenny, 5 hours apart. Did find that when the heated grip, throttle side warmed up that it stopped the throttle returning!

Really enjoyed the day.

I am sure plod would understand this

Powered the Harley up today (I removed the main fuse whilst I was away in Australia) it started OK so I took it for a run, I need to do the same thing for the Triumph next week and get a few more miles on it

I need to book the Harley's 12-month/5k miles service as it was its 1st Birthday yesterday and I've actually done 4,200 miles :)

Rode the R1200R for the first time since fitting the Akrapovic.

Now farts and pops more than before.

Loving it.

Cam bushes and float done on Ariel. Fork modification and heated grips fitted to GROM.

Next weekend I need to tax and get the Enfield out and back on the road and then all I need to do is get the Ducati ready for sale.....

Sold the Fazer and bought a Kawasaki Z1000sx

Ace!

I do like those! Obviously you do too? haha. How do you find it compares?

Just in time for summer too. Nice one!

Ridden a mates once. Just rode this for its first MoT, very pleased so far. 3yr old and under 3000 miles.

A lot smoother than the Fazer.

Cant wait for summer now :)

After it's last outing, it looked like a tractor that had been stuck in a bog!

I dragged it out and spent the morning cleaning it.

All bright and shiny again, ready to get covered in more **** at the weekend.

Woke the Triumph up and took it for a blast to Stanstead :)

I forgot to mention, I finally got round to fitting the H-D Daymaker LED Headlight to the Dyna and the difference is amazing, the additional bonus is that it doesn't need masking for use in Mainland Europe so a real result.

A bit pricey at £410.00 inc VAT however I was lucky and got it on an offer for £307.52 so really pleased.

There are plenty of cheap ones out there on ebay for £80.00 up but very few if any have a pilot light which of course is a legal requirement for the UK and I'm always suspicious of quality when stuff is really cheap, I did look at a company called JW Speaker who do a really neat adaptive replacement LED Headlight unit however I couldn't justify spending £702.00 no matter how trick it is :o

Really pleased with the result and the fact that the only normal bulb on that bike now is the front indicator bulb, unfortunately according to the H-D Parts Book I can't fit LED replacements so I need to look in the after market arena to see if anything is available.

Not long now till May and the H-D Euro Festival in St Tropez :)

So far it doesn't seem to get too hot although I am keeping an eye on it as apparently there is a replacement headlight bucket to use with it, although I did purchase it the unit fitted into the original bucket OK so I thought lets see how it goes, it also saved me stripping the bike down and taking the fuel tank off!

Ace! Ive been wondering how you got on with that (:

not cheap but makes the bike look so much more modern on the road i bet. Classy.

Completely agree about not getting a cheap unit, especially if theirs no sidelight. Imagine that going out on pitch black A road at night..

LED's are so much cooler. I like how the Tracers headlights flash, its just so sharp and instant. Im sad like that :D

I've been thinking about the Cyclops LED for my bike but the heat of LED's worry me with plastic lens etc. I don't really know anyone who has actual experience of them other than yourself so keep us posted.

Taking your fuel tank off could be worse. You could have my bike, see my post upgrading the air intake.
