What did you do to your bike today?

Oh nice. It's a nice easy run, but incredibly boring now, M1 has cameras all over the gaf, then the North Circular has average speed cameras the whole length from motorway to Ace. If I go the back roads and in further west it's a little better but the A40 now has average cameras on too. Pain in the arse lol.

It is yeah. Not too bad in a car but not much fun on a bike is it.

Average cameras are the worst! Are they rear facing too?

  • Put the wet weather kit on and went and did my Advanced Test.... and passed

  • You're right, I've just undone one and the lip on the pipe extrudes out of the block so it's pressing against that.

  • Finished! That's 2016 done.

Yup!

bought myself some summer gloves on saturday, wore them for my lesson on sunday and got my winter gloves out again this morning!

if the forecast is to be believed, i'll be getting my thermal liner out again for tuesday / wednesday

After a blistering weekend up in the North West, rode to work in Worcester last night on the K1600, had to pull over and pop my thermal liner in and run the heated grips and heated seat. I must be going soft but it was a bit nippy

Had an oil leak develop on the fazer and traced it to something behind the front sprocket cover. Whilst I had the cover off I thought I would check the front sprocket and found it was loose on the shaft! The nut had gone loose. Looking on the Internet it seemed a common problem so today I fitted the revised nut and washer along with a new clutch rod seal which was the source of the leak.

Replaced the clutch lever and clutch foot lever rubber as well then finished off with a nice wash!

Took it for a ride, the long way to Buckingham, then the longer way back.

80 odd miles.

Twas a chance to try out the Bering heated gloves too.

Not really impressed.

They are nice and warm even on the low setting but the material on the lower part of the fingers is a nylon type of thing.

Its slippery and doesn't grip the handlebars.

I had an aching right wrist after about 30 miles because the throttle kept closing as it slipped through the glove, which meant having to constantly adjusting my grip.

I think they will be going back for a refund.

Washed the moped. First time since I bought it 8 months ago :D

It was pretty grubby, and I've neglected it a bit tbh but now the weather is improving and I'm going to use it more I thought it deserved a clean.

Comes up quite well, just the scabby exhaust letting it down really

Could have done a bit more on it but I'm tired and want to watch the snooker.

Also cleaned my bike today. The Harpic trick on the oil stain didn't work but did clean up the rest of the header nicely.

After saying I wouldn't I bought a chain oiler. Avoided the Scotoiler as I had nothing but problems last time I had one and gone with a PDOiler which was recommended and electrically pumped. Hopefully I'll get it installed this weekend.

Had a lesson for my mod2 and remembered how to ride a bike after my lesson last week was a nightmare.

Yeah, it's gone quick! I've not used it much tbh, bought it at the wrong time really lol.

I did take it out for a spin the other week when it was warm, it's more capable than I think it is :D I'm waiting for something to scrape the floor at some point. I did have a look for an exhaust, since the stock is a bit tatty I might as well upgrade right?

Took the Triumph out for a run to Newmarket and back today as I haven't ridden it for a while, will hopefully get the Harley cleaned and checked over this week before I take it to the South of France for The Euro Festival, Grimaud, Golfe de St Tropez early next week :)

I've done the same as you can't fit a vacuum oiler to the NC

The PD is still in the box waiting for me to fit new chain and sprockets at the same time.

I must get on with it.

Mine came without the oil, which was sent out yesterday so should be here today. I've already removed the panels for where the kit and hose will run so shouldn't take a great deal of time and I have an accessories wire socket spare to connect it all to so no real electrical work, just plug and play. I'll let you know how I get on.

PD Oiler fitted today. Reservoir behind the left side panel, electric feed off Acc wires, controller next to fuse box, pipe down the subframe support secured with Sugru so no zip ties, passed under the chain guide and along the swingarm. Had to use a zip tie around the swingarm to secure the wick, may try araldite at a later stage.
Note to anyone else fitting this fill the delivery tube oil prior to fitting as it takes an age to prime.

Well tackled Fish Hill Worcestershire on the R3 (still not quite run in yet as only 500 miles on the clock). Think I was only doing about 80 between the two big corners but was not looking at the clock as fixed on the road.

Going up the hill power was not a problem, fear and technique much more so.  On the plus side you could not wish for a lighter bike, at some 160 kgs wet, but I must reacquaint myself with "trail braking", found a video with Julian Ryder....

Nice ride into Abergavenny to stop at the bus station for a brew and sausage bap. Plenty of other bikers there enjoying the great weather today!

Few miles here n there. The Tracers done over 3000 miles now.. still lovin it. Chilled when you want to be and comes alive when you do too.

Followed an S3 over a good fast road into town earlier.. i was convinced it was a TDI rep as i roared past after he'd overtaken (he was going for it for ages but i never had the chance until) thinkin how slow it seemed. Reg checked it when i got back, cos im sad. Yup, 261bhp S3.... dno where the other 200 were?

Planning to head off to Scotland for abit of a tour on the 19th! Hopefully the weather is good!

That looks a pretty tidy install :)

Noticed that the charge warning LED was lit on the charging fly lead on the Harley, so I took that for a run in the evening sunshine yesterday after filling it up, it would have been better if I'd filled it up on the way home, but the fuel warning light was telling me other things when I started it up lol.

Packing today, ready for my trip to the South of France on it that starts tomorrow :)

Thanks for the tip. I'm doing mine tomorrow.

Did the chain and sprockets on Friday and took it for a run Saturday.

what a difference! All smooth and quiet again.

The old chain was well and truly FUBAR. It bent sideways like a banana!

Not good to have so much flex and having seen the damage a broken chain does it's wise to have done it now.

When you prime the tube you will need to suck the oil up the tube from the wick end. Put a bit of blue tac at both ends to prevent it running out whilst you fit it. You will have to trim both ends of the tube so don't worry about getting the blue tac out again.

BTW the oiler works a treat and no fling!

Washed a million flies of the bike from the ride Sunday. Brecon, Llandovery, Tregaron, Devils Bridge, Rhayader and home. :)

Good effort!

I went to Devils Bridge the other week. Nice spot!

On my way back from the Bridge to the motorway i counted 2 RT police bikes... 2 traffic cars tucked away and a Panigale police bike. I figured they must expect some speeding bikes? :D:D

The Welsh cops love the A40, A44 and A5 and one really has to be careful as it is so easy to get done for the 30 mph plus there and that means some serious penalties now.

Preferring the West Country and Cotswold runs these days as the 28% decline in traffic cops seems not to have affected Wales as much as those areas.  I do not speed in villages etc but on the A and Motorways roads in non built up areas the speed limits just seem ludicrously low compared to France and Germany and considering the machinery and tyres we have, bikes with ABS is common place and mandatory on new bikes.  Seems like a money making scheme as they promise not to tax us any more they look for other ways to us ie new higher VED on cars, £90 for a bike over 600cc (R3 is only £43) for the terrible state of roads, I don't know what they are doing with all the extra money but it ain't on the roads.
