5th Gear - Fiesta ST

Featured Replies

but you don't buy a 182 or fiesta ST expecting a comfy, relaxed daily driver with good mpg.

you buy it to thrash about and fun in.

horses for courses...I couldn't live with a diesel myself, I'd miss things like being able to hold onto gears until 6500+rpm...

I like the Fiesta ST, but wouldn't swap a Furby vRS for one. The advantage the ford has is in handling, but the interior quality isn't as good, the Fiesta feels a bit cheap in comparison.

I think Chris has hit the nail on the head, in normal use the Fabia vRS is hard to beat, but also hard to quantify and compare as it is almost in a segment of it's own, somewhere between hot hatch and very fast and relaxed cruiser.

how many fiesta ST's have you driven then??

this annoys me when people slate a car the haven't driven/experienced

I beg your pardon !!!

I have driven 2 !!! My neice works in a Ford garage. She agrees with me that it might have good performance but the build quality and ride are crap

THANKYOU :mad::rofl:

The three main things that drew me into buying the Fabia were :

1. The performance

2. The MPG

3. The build quality

How many of these apply to the Fiesta ST?

Certainly not the last two

Ah the famed build quality ;) Does the Fiesta leak when it rains?

Now now children....... calm down!

Does anyone know what time 5th Gear clocked for the Fabia VRs round the track?

about 2 seconds slower than the fiesta

:)

and that was more of a generl rant rather than a personal thing btw :)

Given the circumstances (belting round a track) would the MPG really be any different?

I see the all important figures are missing from the 5th gear website.

Well I thought the Fiesta was smart, sounded good, pounded the granny buggy mitsi and was far quicker round a track than a furby.

And I love our furby.Must be the only furby owming family who couldn't give two hoots bout mpg :D

I can't believe how many badge snobs there are on here who are Skoda owners!

yip im sticking to my theory :thumbup::rofl:

..... the granny buggy mitsi.....

Would that be the same Granny buggy that is also faster than the Fabia VRs ?

Gotta say this makes me laugh :rofl:Clearly our superior high level cars are far superior than any

Does it really matter that:

a) the ford is quicker than the fabia

B) it's a better car

Which one did you guys buy FFS...................you enjoy it so be happy at that, there will always be a better car out there to someone else.

I love my wee fabia, I know there are better and quicker cars out there but I dont give a t*ss! The skoda package does what I want it to and that keeps me happy.

Might have to go get a test drive of this wee ford then as it sounds like a corker of a car :D

:D

Skoda is an 'older' persons choice of car of course.Pensioners will hear on the grapevine that there is a new 'King of the old peoples warm hatch' out there.A mitsbishi telephone box .The taller the better.

The ST will sell by the truckload and be a super cheap bargain pretty quickly  .

Have to say,no stripes= looks like normal fiesta though

The stripes dont look that bad tbh, it looks nice in the blue..................I dont think I'm well

He's right - I looked very seriously at loads of cars when I bought the Furby, from Clio Sports, Golf V GTi, CTR, Focus RS, Octy vRS etc and bought the Furby as a package because I like it - I'm sure many others did the same.

Cost wasn't an issue as I don't pay for my cars. :D

Edit: I'm going to go further and say the repeated Furby bashing by the Octy mob seems a little childish - how many of you guys have driven one?

And how many of you guys slated the mkIV Golf?

It often seems to be the case round here that if you say anything less than glowing about the Fabia vRS, you get jumped on by several people (not always the same people) as a "Furby Basher" just because someone doesn't agree that the Fabia vRS is the fastest, best handling, best looking, most economical, most tunable and all round general bestest car in automotive history...doesn't make it "Fabia bashing", some people just like different things

My Furbie goes quick. And I can afford the Insurance, fuel and tax. If I had the Fiesta ST then I couldn't afford to do all of those 4 things. So I like my Furby, It may not be the quickest, the best handling or even the nicest colour. But It's one of the best cars all round I can afford.

:

Nooooooooooooooooo :orb_upset

Re read the whole thread and can't see any evidence of that

It is the ST debate (I have one of each BTW.Octy is great furby is a bit slow but it'll do for now ;) ) *

*This is a joke :rolleyes::D

And how many of you guys slated the mkIV Golf?

I did, as I bought used. Paying 11K for a Golf GTI that was 2 years older than my Octy rs less powerful and that was rattling like a rattly thing did not appeal :D

Here, here. I'm sick of overprotective Furby drivers, there are plenty of cars faster than yours accept it!!! The Furby is a warm hatch, I mean what kind of person buys a "perfomance car" and goes "ooh I do hope the mpg we get is acceptable" FFS I am lucky if I get in the early 30's in the Octy, I bought it to drive not mince about in comparing MPG!!!!

I think the Fabia vRS is a very good car, I'd have prefered one instead of the Ibiza but it was outside of our budget.

Also I had a Golf Mk4 before the Octavia and have no problem with them.

As for Fords well my folks have had a SportKa, ST170 and FRS in recent years among other cars and I've driven a few others at work. The SportKa was really poor IMHO but my mum seemed to like it. ST170 had a terrible engine; just felt numb and they got rid of it after a few months. FRS can't really fault it other than the awful looking steering wheel. Focus 2.0 zetec, nice handling and decent engine for the type of car. Focus TDCI goes well, handling not great as it's noticably front heavy, a 6th gear would be useful for motorways.

Andy to be fair it's not just furby owner who object, there are a few octi owners too lol, it happen on every forum, just one of those things.

I'm sure if the Ford ticked all my boxes then I might have got one. Trouble I had when I went to the ford dealership was they wanted a deposit and wanted me to buy one before I had a test drive.

Skoda on the other hand just handed me the keys and said enjoy yourself. But that's going off the topic :o

There was also a thread on here recently relating the the Focus CMAX. It seems they're like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I am just suprised of how over protective people are with their car's, does owning a Fabia vRS mean you have your heads up your @rse's and slate any other car because it is faster?? Then go on the ever so boring MPG rant and build quality etc etc...

I was just saying the Fiesta ST looks to be a little cracker of a car and looks as if Ford have done a good job.

btw I own a Fabia vRS, so don't accuse me of being from the bullying Octy mob (another pathetic assumption)
