Why? Because the vast majority of Octy vRS drivers don't go on about how we slayed a McLaren F1 and how it's the best thing since sliced bread?? I accept my octy is not the best and fastest car out there.

WTF is your problem? You pull my post to pieces bit by bit, almost like you have nothing better to do, you have a go at the content of the posts regarding Fabia's with reference to a tale that doesn't actually exist, and now you are suggesting that all Fabia owners "go on" like they are the best car in the world. And you have rollerskate hater next to your avata. You have obviously got issues :finger:

I have problems?? Why because I express my opinion??? And how exactly do you know what I am talking about in my avatar sig???(I've removed it seen as though you are so uptight about it ) I do apologise for expressing my opinion, just because it does not agree with yours I have problems!!!! Hmm don't think so somehow. Clearly you have a problem with people disagreeing with you, seeing as how you have to resort to profanity in your response.

Everybody is entitled to thier opinion, and my opinion is seldom shared, so thats not my issue at all.

In fact I haven't got an issue. You are so right. Every Fabia owner has slayed a lamborghini, there is at least, AT LEAST 20 skoda Fabia vrs's in asda'a car park at any one time, and as you have intimated, most Fabia's look like they ram raided halfords after a coating of no nails.

And you are clearly not the stereotypical Octavia driver who has a superiority complex because you have a big boot, and probably a dump valve so everyone knows you are special. :D

I dont see any post in this thread referring to the Fabia being the best car ever, I don't see anywhere on the forum a thread pertaining to a Gallardo slaying incident, all I see is another Octavia owner getting the boot in. Predictably so, I might add.

As for your avatar, as you well know, the Fabia is known on here in some circles as a rollerskate, and with your post being worded the way it was, i thought that it was relevent.

Next time you have your car serviced, ask for an upgrade to a Fabia courtesy car. You might like it.

:ready2go:

I reckon Chris, you'll probably have to buy something bigger if you want anything that is more "imposing".

I used to own a Zetec S TDCi that was featured in fast ford mag - highest TDCi remap power ouptut to date (170 bhp, 316ft of torque on overboost) *hangs head in shame*. For the record I would like to say the build quality was impressive and felt a lot chunkier than my current vRS, also handling was excellent as was the ride. Had to sell it unfortunately as couldn't afford to run it!

my car for example, admittedly in standard form, not up to the job, cost 11.8k. Remap/brakes/eibachs is all it needed to make it up to scratch.
I am am sorry but the driver of the Clio Cup must of been inept ..

Why? Were you sat with him? Were you spectating from my passenger seat? Are you an Octavia owner too? Have I accidentally posted on Clio.net?

Why do I even rise to it? Why?

I'm off to bed to dream up ways to afford a clio, or an octavia with a big boot and a dump valve.

I am am sorry but the driver of the Clio Cup must of been inept and it is unfair to comment on a tuned car over stock. Had the Clio which can easily be bought for

Am I sensing boot envy in this thread? :P

Am I sensing boot envy in this thread? :P

Yes. :P

Very even match on the straight maybe, but the 172 Cup has a much wider track than a standard 172, is 20mm lower and weighs 1020kg (ummm, i think :D), which by reckoning is nearly 170 bhp per ton.

(This is usually where I get ready to get my coat :))

IIRC a standard vRS only has 98 bhp/ton and a remapped one can't have much more than 130-140, the Clio has a better feel and is more willing to be pushed, it also doesn't have ABS therefore in theory (although i've never noticed!) it be better under brakes.

I just find it hard to believe the stories when people say "I kept up with ....", if you read EVO or Autocar they all rate the Clio as the best handling hot hatch in it's class and the 182 trophy with Sach dampers is on a different level. I'm not denying you did keep up with one or even lap faster, but if they were allowed to "tweak" the cars in the way you have i'm sure it'd be a MUCH different story.

It is a better handling car, the one we were playing with had bigger alloys sports suspension and the full RS kit, it pulled away into the corners but we caught up coming out. For a complete lap there wasn't anything in it and yes we were both trying. :)

I'm running around 180bhp at the moment KW suspension and standard brakes.

you have a big boot

Yes I do!!!!! :D

probably a dump valve

Actually it's a Bailey diverter valve replaced due to Boschs ****e build quality :D And apart from that my car is standard thank you v much.

Upgrade!!!! You are clearly sniffing too many chip oil fumes fella!!! And I have driven a Furby and it's way too small for my needs, plus it aint got climate control.

Upgrade!!!! You are clearly sniffing too many chip oil fumes fella!!! And I have driven a Furby and it's way too small for my needs, plus it aint got climate control.

Don't want to get involved really, but why do you assume that upgrading means bigger? An F1 car hasn't enough boot space for me, but is an upgrade speed-wise. The H2 limo that drives around town here has more than enough space in it for what I need, but isn't faster than my car. Both cost more than my car so could be considered an upgrade. Both get a lower mpg than my car, so could be considered downgrading too. The F1 seats less, the Hummer seats more. etc. etc.

I get that you aren't impressed by the Fabia vRS, but you don't seem to have stated at any point why. Just that people have implied that it is faster than it is. Which I'm sure a lot of people with a wide variety of cars have done in the past. Octavia owners included. And also that it is small, which I'm afraid to reiterate, doesn't make it a bad car.

Its easy to think the Fabia is a faster car than it is, because of the sheer get up and go when you put your foot down. In reality, while it may not be quicker in outright terms than a lot of competitors, in the real world, on real roads, with speed limits, police and driving bans, the Fabia IMO is a very quick car, even in standard form. Other cars may be quicker, but you'll have to work so much harder to make that so. That being said, I feel keen drivers would probably still prefer petrol cars to drive, even if they are slightly slower, because after a while, the effortlessness of the Furby IMO becomes boring - but thats not a criticism as such, its just at times to me, the car just seemed too easy to extract performance out of. When you aren't in the mood to play, this is great, when you really want to go out and have a good thrash, then that for me is where the Furby falls down slightly.

My 2p worth.

I agree, except for the shame bit ;)

Noise and ride quality also help you think you're going faster than you really are, hence why your Golf probably feels faster than it is

I think a major grip on reality is called for here.... For both Fabia and Octy owners.. we have 130 and 180 bhp ONLY, we are not really designed as out and out track day cars... In standard form the Octy and Fabia are near enough equal in 0-60 sprints... In gear the Octy will struggle to keep with a

Fabia... The Fabia is better than the Octy in refinement, ( wind noise ) Economy, front lights, low insurance, better stereo,,,

Octy is better with boot space, kit, better brakes, smoother engine...

Both cars are by no means perfect, there are pros and cons for both models

but simply these are not fast cars not by Audi S4/BMW M3 standards

But for the money they are both very good packages, but one is nearly due to be replaced, and the other is long in the tooth and should get a overhaul,

160PD motor, 17 inch alloys, Octy Brakes all round, Leather, climate.....

Dazz

the stripes are an option' date=' so that's the dodgy image sorted. the mpg thing isn't really an issue if your in the market for a [i']proper[/i] hot hatch. as for the build quality, if you're going on reputations from the past, what's the heated rear screen on a skoda for...?

Fact is, out of the box, the Fiesta ST is a better small hot hatch than the Fabia vRS and the new Focus ST is a better mid-sized hot hatch than the Octavia vRS.

This seems to be a site for Skoda enthusiasts, but the moment some one is actually enthusiastic, they are shot down. :thumbdwn:

I constantly have Clio 182 rammed down my throat.

***k it, im off to Renault and im gonna see what all the fuss is about, then im gonna drive a fiesta st. in fact over the next few weeks, im gonna test drive every car in the same class as the fabia vrs, on the same piece of road, and make a full report for you all to pull to pieces.

There are loads of cars in this '150 bhp' sector now.Seems to be taking off again.

Worst of the bunch has to be the Polo GTI.Nice looker.Nearly
