Headlamp Washers

Featured Replies

I want to wrap the chrome fronts of the headlamp washers in white, just to see how they look really. I don't know if they're electric or hydraulically operated and naturally, I want to completely avoid any damage to the units, so before I try this, does anyone know if they can be carefully pulled out to allow me to cut the plastic wrap to shape?

Any help appreciated!

Cheers... Rob

Sorry - no idea why this has duped - mods can you delete the dupe please!

Yes, you can. And the covers come off. See here.

Fantastic! I did a search and unfortunately your thread didn't come up, and this is exactly what I needed!

They're hydraulic, the water pressure pushes them out and a spring retracts.  I turned mine off, they were annoying.

Cheers wokwon. I thought they probably were hydraulic. As they're fitted as standard on cars with Xenon headlamps opinion is that if they're inoperable, the car could fail the annual government vehicle safety test (MOT) so disconnection is not option (and I think they're great in any event!)
