How do I connect to it (i.e.know if I have it).

It was supposed to be on order, really unsure how to commence setup.

Just start the car and check for Wi-Fi networks with your phone. It should show up if you have it. (The network password is your VIN)

I tried that...but nothing showed. Part of me thinks it was not installed.

Stupid question is the car WIFI always on (or is there a way it needs to be enabled to broadcast?)

Smartgate Wifi is always on when the ignition is on.

 

Depending on the firmware version it will either show as SmartGate_VIN, or DIRECT_Smartate_VIN - where VIN is your full VIN number

Thanks, I did try it in showroom but there were a lot of WIFI spots showing, none mentioned Smartgate.

I reakon it wasn't installed on my car. The dealer said he would get it installed if need be.
