Renault Meganne problem

Not too sure if this is the right forum but here goes anyway.

Went to visit a friend yesterday as he is off sick recovering from a heart attack.  To add to his woes his Renault Meganne has decided to lock him out.  The key fob will not unlock the car and the emergency key for the passenger side does nothing and the lock just goes round and round.

He has changed the battery on the remote and it has made no difference.  He cannot get into the car to check the car battery.  Other than smash a window anyone any idea how to get into it?  Or what could be the problem. I am not sure of the year of the car but it is fairly old and is the model with the huge ar$e for a boot.

My thoughts as well Chris but the local Renault garage neither know nor care it would seem and are not interested.  I have had a look on Google but cannot see anything that helps.

If theyre still as flimsy as old clios, bend a coat hanger into a hook on one end, use something like a large flat screwdriver wrapped in a tshirt to prise the top of the door open, and go fishing! Either hit the door unlock button on the dash/door or hook it around the door handle and pull. Worked a treat on a mates clio

Jack up front, (remove engine tray if it has one?) then use booster pack or jump leads to attach to alternator output cable or starter feed cable (and earth obviously)....thus giving the car 12+ volts.      Assuming it's the battery that's flat which is causing the problem.

If you're lucky from underneath you might get access to the bonnet release cable ?
