VAG COM Needed

Featured Replies

After a visit to my dealer today i now need to get a diagnostic cable and vag com. The dealer was clueless on xenon adjustment. I have a serial port laptop and live in north west wales so i'm to far away from anyone with it.

All i want to do is adjust my xenons and change the locking to lock all doors at once. I've been looking and i'm not sure at all about which cable to buy. My car is a 2005 Fabia Vrs

Me being a bit on the mean side i only want a cheap cable (ebay or similar). I know perhaps some of you might have seen a post like this before but your help would be most apprecitated.

Could anyone recommend a cheap setup and possibile give me a direct link to a cable and software. Your help would be most apprectiaded. My xenons are far too low and i must say pretty dam dangerous on the welsh country roads at night you just can see far ahead enough.

Thanks

Alex.

If you just want those things changed then you might as well save yourself a few quid and find yourself a friendly local Briskodian ;) Other option would be to visit another dealer :D

If you still want a cable, you can get a DIY one from www.andywhittaker.com or one from eBay (go on feedback), but you'll still need to get hold of a registered copy of VAG-COM software to be able to do the changes you want to :D

Can't you adjust the Xenons with the screw above the Xenons?

I think my Xenons need adjusting too. Recently started driving through lots of country lanes and I'm now convinced my setup is for left hand drive! Going to have a twiddle with a screwdriver tonight!

You need VAG-COM to set them in the adjust position before you tweak them as they are self-levelling ;)

Chris

doh! That explains why when I tried the other night the beam kept dropping again!

Do you still have Vag Com Scooby?

Do you still have Vag Com Scooby?

Afraid I sold it on to a chap at work. If you cross my palm with silver, I may remember his name ;)

Chris

Silver is in short supply at the moment!!

mmm maybe I could find some milk bottle tops somewhere...

AFAIK the "total" closure fdor the windows is a feature of the alarm and not the car....

(I'm sure there'll be one or two people around to dispute this....)

It may have been the first time they have worked on Xenons. They probably forgot to store the new value for levelling once they had adjusted the lights. The Ross-Tech site has the correct procedure.

WOW almost 4 years!! that's got to be a record

As already stated vcds wont adjust the xenons at all, all it has is an mot mode as we call it, basically turn on the xenon adaptation channel & then adjust the xenons via the screws on the top of the headlights so they're straight & level with the mot bay lense then turn of mot mode in vcds, this is the correct way to adjust the xenon headlights - note as long as we're talking oem fitment not aftermarket rubbish.

Also for full closure you need to enable something in the convenience module 46 depending on the year of car as it could be under central locking 35, of course just going through the bits/coding will show you which one it is as I use an A3 but they're all much the same.
