Diesel cheaper than Petrol @ £1.14p litre (Cornwall)

Featured Replies

What's going on here, diesel below the price of petrol, I haven't read or heard anything on the news??

Perhaps Cornwall is classed as a rural location therefor qualifies for that petrol/deisel price reduction

Odd that you have not seen or heard about it, because it is on the TV, Radio & in the newspapers and even on forums like Briskoda's Off Topic threads.

So not really going uncovered.

Been that way for the last 4-6 weeks in Gloucestershire.

Exactly the same time as I bought a diesel car.

Happy shopper right here!

112.9 @ asda, and sainsburys near me. Petrol 114.9

Same for me in Whitchurch (Shropshire). Filled up yesterday with diesel at 116.9, petrol at 118.9 :)

I filled up in Tesco, Bristol last evening at diesel was cheaper than petrol.

Hereford has been that way for a while as well. But only in the city.

Pleased that Cornwall is 2p a litre cheaper as I'm off there tomorrow and will fill up down there now.

Strange I agree, but I have seen on fuel forecourts, now consider I only usually watch DVD's on TV, don't buy newspapers nor listen to the radio, and fill car-up fortnightly... small world eh..

And certainly not on 'Briskoda' as I would not have started a thread in the first place...I'm trotting off back to my cave now..LOL

You'll have to shop around as some independent stations are charging £1.20 litre for diesel, still.

Diesel owners have been conned for years, petrol is the more expensive out of the 2 to make and as far as I understand diesel is a by product of making petrol, why should it be more expensive to buy?? Demand that's why.

Not good then! But thanks.

All my cars over the last 20 years have been diesels. Back then diesel was about 7-8 pence a gallon cheaper (IIRC) and, as I also believe diesel is cheaper to produce, had (wrongly) assumed it may always be that way.

But so did a lot of other people who then bought diesel cars based upon better economy and cheaper fuel prices.

Demand increased, prices naturally rose and we've had it the other way round for quite some time now.

I doubt we'll get back to 7-8p per litre difference, but "every little counts" in my wallet.

So glad i have just bought a diesel!

Hmm you may regret it France will heavily tax them soon due to now research showing they are more carcinogenic, and what will happen the EU will take it on board as they initially seem to be doing and it'll come over here like all the other great stuff the EU given us   :notme:

Petrols will deprecate heavily now I suspect. Especially on large cars. All good for us dissease cars

And French motorists will start setting French politicians on fire if that happens. ;)

Over here, diesel is £0.83 vs petrol, which is £0.9 (95) per litre. It's been like this like forever, diesel has been cheaper than petrol, not with a lot, but it was a difference. I've refuled last weekend from Moldova, with petrol which was £0.61 vs diesel - £0.54 per litre. Anyway, according to the purchase and maintenance costs, I'll continue using a petrol car. If I'll be doing more miles (at this moment, around 6000-7500/year), I'll be converting it to LPG and save a few.

Here diesel is 0,30€ cheaper than petrol

Christ this thread is riveting, I can't believe I've been missing all the excitement.

I've heard reports that huge metallic birds have been seen in the skies over Cornwall but personally I don't believe it  :D

I'd have said it was not birds, but piglets with wings.but for months, I've been buying diesel  at prices around 114.9/litre, whilst the local cartels want up to 122.9 /litre. I drive 2 miles at 50MPG to buy £10 . OK-I'm not saving much- but better still- the cartel is loosing business.
