Kept up with a WRX

Featured Replies

Well, just for reference, i have kept up with/passed at speed many many subaru's of various badge variety. Cant see what the fuss is about. Off the line, no chance. Up and running, every chance.

Coming home from a Blink 182 gig i met an STI & a WRX at Hanger lane. Off went the STi but i stayed infront of the WRX quite easily and yes he was trying. Scooby's are over rated.

I tried keeping up with a 575 Maranello the other day, I couldn't :( and the git wasn't even trying/aware :thumbdwn:

Sorry' date=' dont believe a remapped Octy is as fast as a WRX. Here is why:

Thats a standard WRX with no PPP and only 2000 miles on the clock. The Octavia is a Jabba remapped car.

Bengie is his next challenger, the results will be here on Friday afternoon ;)

Nope, remapped octy can and does beat a WRX. My mate has one and we've done quite a few 'comparrisons'. Its even possible from a standing start but you have to get a blinder!

Once rolling in a straight line - easy peasy!

In the bends - no chance - he can carry at least 25% more speed than me through the tight stuff (on my standard suspension)

Few car mags are saying the impreza has had its day.Even with the new 2.5(is it?)

They still like the evo though

Are you lot closet ScoobyNet members ?

There is no was an Octavia with just a remap will beat an Impreza WRX, providing the WRX is driven properly and the driver remembers to change gear

Bengie is having a crack at a WRX on Friday, his Octavia is pretty meaty so we'll soon see whats what.

Yes :o:o:o

Maybe I'll post "I kept up with a WRX" there. Can you imagine the reaction?:rofl::rofl:

I was hoping the STI that I encountered at the weekend might have posted on one of the forums.

no FWD octavia could launch like a properly driven imprezza.

take a look at JBS's uber vRS, it has twice the power my car and only just over 1 second quicker to 60. put a gt28rs on a 4x4 like mine and see what it will do 0-60 :D

Not if you embarrassed them ;) .Nice if they did though like the chap with the supra monster who posted to express his surprise at his octavia encounter.

He might not even have known it was a Skoda TBH, I really need to get round to rebadging it.

i think your video speaks for itself. once the octy is up and running it seems reasonably close. yes he pulls away but it certainly doesnt waste it. rolling start at 20-30mph would be even closer.

my octy has 220bhp and 250lb of torque and it happily kept with a 02 plate impreza from 40mph upwards.

kind words rich but i fear swmbo may disagree! that was her the other day driving like a granny as usual!

Autocar figures for standard WRX is -

0-60 5.9s

0-100 16.9s

60-100 11s

IIRC the Octy vRS figures were impressive in Autocar test which I think were equal if not better than above. I know some believe that fit example was remapped or had the 225 bhp engine!

Ignoring the quick off the line 4wd the standard WRX is not that quick as the above figures prove

Fortunately, a member of Briskoda actually purchased this vehicle - and their dyno output can be seen here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showpost.php?p=137823&postcount=13

Quite high output, but not the 225bhp engine! :)
