Auto Locking has stopped working.........

Featured Replies

Been out in the MKIII Vrs today and I have noticed the Auto Lock has stopped working. When you got to 10mph [ think it was 10 ] you could hear the click as the doors locked and the padlock symbol on the  button near the gear leaver lit up but it has stopped working/ lighting up/no click

I can lock all the doors with the button and the button lights up, press again and the light goes out and the doors unlock. I've checked the setting on the radio ( car/settings/doors .....) and the Auto lock has a tick in the box.

Any Idea's Folks

Thanks

Well I may be wrong, but my impression is that the padlock button has to be on (i.e. lit up) for the doors to lock automatically as you drive off.  If it's not, they remain unlocked.

Tried unselecting it. Restarting then reselecting?

This is not the first time ive heard problems around the central locking which points to it being a more common problem. The problem im currently experiencing is that intermittently my boot doesn't automatically unlock when I get out of the car after driving. Just to point out though that when opening any other doors except the drivers door the boot should remain locked its just when the drivers door is opened it should automatically unlock the boot.

I had a failed lock module and lock controller.

The lock controller wouldn't lock the front doors from the inside, but would via the key from outside.

It deadlocked me in once too.

Haven't tried it in my Octy yet as the function is on as std, but in previous cars I have turned it on by holding the lock button down for 2 or 3 seconds? Otherwise there may be a setting on the infotainment system to activate?

press the button where your window open/shut is.  There should be a button with a picture of a door on it.

You can activate/deactivate in the settings part of the infotainment system, but I presume you have checked that.

That's what the OP post says....

In next week at the Dealers. They seem to think it's a faulty Door Micro switch.

press the button where your window open/shut is.  There should be a button with a picture of a door on it.

Mine does not have it, only button for the doors is near the gear selector

Oops, didn't read it properly

Any news? Was it a faulty micro switch?

They traced the fault ( so they say ) to the micro swith in the passenger door, drivers side.  Lubricated the lock and all seems to be fine. They also disconnected the battery which I'm told is like a factory reset, it was also hooked up to there computer

Good... It's a pain in the ar$e in my humble.......

Digging up a old post, but mine has just started this issue today. Auto-Lock not working in my VRS as per OP.

If this is a bad micro-switch, is it a expensive fix? Mine is out of warranty. Doors lock fine when the button is pressed. Don't know if I should just do this from now on, but no further issues as of yet.

Was also wondering if a disconnect of the battery would be worth while? Would this have any other effect on the car?

Cheers.

Just for info, my auto-lock started to work the other day (I don't use it normally), then I realised I was using the spare key, went back to the usual key and all back to normal.

This happened on my MK3 leon FR. Went in for a service and when it came out the autolock no longer worked. Had it back in the garage twice and they couldn't find a problem (guess the computer couldnt tell them). A month or so later it started working again. Strange things these VAG cars!

I'll try and use the main key and see if this resolves it. Weird its just started happening! Don't think it's gonna be something I'll worry about getting sorted, can always press the door lock button.

Have you checked in settings to see if it is enabled?

Yeah it is defiantly enabled cheers.

Did you try to set the head unit back to factory to see if it works? It comes with losing all the settings you`ve made so far though..:speechless: but almost the same as to disconnect the battery

I'll give this a try next after the key advice.
