Now a Spaceback owner, new car but not new member

Featured Replies

First time posting in then Rapid section of the site, but about 3 weeks ago I decided to retire my 9yr old Octavia Sport and replace it with a 14 plate Rapid 1.6tdi spaceback elegance.

Have to say I'm not missing the Sport really, only the power from the remapped 140 bhp 2.0 lol

Been having a little look about the Rapid section for ideas for some mods, already added genuine (superskoda) rear boot sill protector, door sill covers, sport pedals, 4x mud flaps and rubber boot carpet cover. Plus transferred my number plate and had some road legal pressed metal ones made up

Looking to add luggage hooks soon and the little covers for the boot sections/compartments.

Also on my list is wind deflectors, paint callipers, sport lowering springs, possible engine re map and engine cover.

Few little pics for everyone.

:D There's a tin of Halfords Brake Caliper red paint in the first picture!

I was looking on mobile so the picture isn't big.

They look pretty good! You 've done a fantastic job on your Spaceback, and owning the white one myself too I surely can appreciate its looks!

Thanks mate, few more modifications done over the weekend.

Cree/led DRL's fitted, and sidelights.

Also changed all interior bulbs to LED ones, including glove box. Swapped boot light for a small panel of super bright LEDs

but do they go out when you switch off????????

  • Author

Yeah they all go out completely when the doors are shut/car is turned off and locked.

Edit, just checked the boot one by lowering the back seats, that stays very slightly lit.

But I imagine the power consumed by that will be barely measurable anyway.

I quite often leave my 2 way radio on all night and my CCTV as I forget to flick the switch when I get home, and that's never caused me any problems.

will wait until back from holiday next week before refitting LED boot light

Just fitted last night LED boot lights and reverse lights, should really start a thread in the project section.

How comes you have 2 reversing lights?

One on each side of the car, is that not normal?

My mate who also has a 14 plate Spaceback also has 2.

Didn't think anything of it until you have mentioned it, as it was just the same as my Octavia 2 that I replaced with the spaceback

Out of interest where did you source your LEDS buddy? Fancy the number plate units but havent a clue which of the many are any good?

  • Author

I get most of them from my mate that has his own led business

http://www.crazyleds.co.uk

If he doesn't have what I want/need then I just look around on eBay to find it

It is quite common these days for cars to only have one reversing light as well as only one fog light (another wonderful cost saving move). I had it in my head that the Rapid only had one reversing light. Just checked, I do indeed have two. It's just the fog light that is a single.

I'll be quiet now :)

You can DIY :p

two fog lights

but you need this:

Are twin fogs legal in the EU?  UK?
