tcs + engine light beeping four times

Featured Replies

I was driving today for maybe 40 min and there was like 15 celsius heat outside

, then when I was parking the car  suddenly I felt the engine started to shake/wibe

then the tcs (traction control) light came on and then engine light started to blink and then a beep four times with the "emissions workshop!" blinking also.

The only thing I did yesterday was add 1,5liters of oil to it, cause the oil scale showed it needed more oil.  Well the oil on it is 5w30 longlife

but I put a 1,5 liters of 10w40 semi-synthetic oil on it. And I drove like all yesterday after that without any warning lights.

And also my wife was driving pretty fast/hard cause she was late on a meeting 40 min before this happened .

Do you guys have any suggestions?

It would help everyone if you supplied the following information buddy:-

1/ What octavia car is it ? (Attach this to your profile page)

2/ Engine type

3/ Any mods to the engine ?

4/ How many miles has it done ?

5/ Last but not least service history

NB: Sounds like it it could have been over filled with oil, this then migrated into the combustion chambers, oiled  plug/s up , misfire, emissions

go up the wall. ECU screams "HELP"

As said above, I also wonder why there was a need to 'top up' with 1.5 litres? That's a fair amount for a top up. Isn't the distance between min and max only 1 litre?

Also, daft question, not mixed semi synthetic with fully have you?

yellowcar:  yesterday I noticed that the oilscale was completely dry!! so I started with 0,5 litre and that was not enough so I ended in 1,5 liters and then it was normal again.

well I think the 5w30 long life is fully synthetic so yes I think I mixed fully with semi synthetic

problem is solved!  It was a broken car candle

Glad you've sorted it but I'd consider an engine flush and oil change because mixing fully and semi can lead to sludge = blocked pipes, oil pick up, sludgey sump etc.
