Replacement key fob help

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I've just been given an 03 Octavia Ambiente by my dad, it only has one key / remote fob which typically is broken. Can anyone suggest where to buy a replacement as well as a new one. I want to be able to use both remotes to lock and unlock / arm and disarm as well as drive it!

I've seen threads which talk about using three button fobs, is an upgrade possible, including control of the immobiliser? I understand that it is dependant on the CCM (convenience control module).

Being rather new to all this, I have a lot to learn and so would really appreciate some assistance, many thanks. In advance.

Quick update, just spoken to Craig at Auto Solutions which will do a new, fully coded three button key for £100, but until October! Other than a main dealer does anyone have any suggestions of another firm similar to Auto solutions.

When I changed from a Mk 1 to a Mk 2 I was initially pleased to see that I have a three button key, with the middle button unlocking just the boot.

BUT, I soon found out there is a design problem. If you put the fob in the boot while loading and you then slam down the boot to close it, the action of closing the boot also re-locks it - with your fob inside!

I now make a point of checking I have the key in my pocket before closing the lid or just use the normal two buttons to open and close rather than the middle boot only button.

Reading on other VAG forums I see that some locking systems allow you delay instantaneous auto locking of the boot for ten minutes. As I see it this solves the problem. If your fob is inside you can retrieve it and then lock the boot using the lock button the fob, and if you forget to lock it, it will auto lock after ten minutes.

My advice would be to stick with a two button fob.
