What exactly was the point?...

Featured Replies

...Is a question I have been asking myself this morning.

Here's Why:

Got home last night (well this morning about 1AM) parked car in the road I normally park in walked home.

Go down to the car this morning, to find that some little t055er has decided to damage my car by way of snapping the roof ariel off and mashing up both front wipers (the aero type) and bending the arms they are attached to.

To say I am livid right now is a bit of an understatement!

Just thought I'd share my anger with you guys and gals on here!

I'd find a student and break his legs on the basis that it was probably one of his lot that did it. Get that anger out!

Well my dad told me I should keep the bent wiper blades and beat the person who did it with them (if i ever found them!)

Yet another example of government policy on opening hours and youth binge drinking that is totally out of control in cities all over the country. The police cannot cope and yet the government extend opening hours and do nothing apart from imposing on the spot fines. You have to get to the root cause not throw fines at the problem. Whilst I fully sympathise with your predicament. Its the fault of the pubs n clubs who allow this binge culture to get out of hand

Two wrongs never make a right but it would be sooooo sweeeeet.........

What a load of dross.

Remember The Beastie boys and the craze they started of nicking VW badges to wear as medallions?, also remeber the damaged grills that caused.

I remember 20 years ago my car having its wipers bent and ruined whilst I was staying down in a quiet part of Devon. Idiots will always cause damage, longer pub hours are no cause of it, a society that has no discipline and the parents that propogate that does.

Its about time people stopped blaming the police or Government for everything that goes on, personal responsibility cannot be passed over because you cant be bothered.

:iagree:

They should just stop scumbags breeding - make them leave a body part at the door on the way out!

If scummy, no-respect arseholes can't breed we'll be left (in a few generations time) with a decent, respectful society.

Stopping child benefit and long term dole would be a start. :finger:

I'm not blaming the police. They have an impossible task. Subsequent governments and the rise in drinking culture are to blame. Where you dirct it is up to you. IMO its squarely at parents AND goverments/ councils allowing clubs n pubs to let kids get ****ed and run amok at early hours of the morning. Where the hell do the parents think they are?

IMHO there would be no damage to cars in the street at that time of day if alcohol was not preent. Its not dross matey its reality :finger:

why does everyone always blame students

why does everyone always blame students

It's usually them and their "crazy" antics :D

I dont believe alcohol is the cause of mindless vandalism/violence, it is our society that is the root cause of these problems, how do you know the people that carried out this attack were drunk? and not simply just to**ers?

The longer/24hr opening times for pubs will eventually lead (I believe) to a more alcohol tolerant society and reduce the binge drinking culture, initially things will get worse as the idiots will think 'weyhey we can drink all night' and they will, but eventually the novelty will wear off, people will have a longer period to consume alcohol over meaning they dont get quite as drunk as they dont have to 'look cool/hard' by consuming as much alcohol as possible before chucking out time.

Just look at the rest of Europe, ok we have a vastly different culture, but - they dont get the alcohol related problems we do, because the pubs/clubs dont have to close at a certain time, it also means people like me (who hate clubbing) can sit in a pub and actually socialise with my friends and have a conversation rather than be forced to go into a nightclub where I cant hear anything anyone is saying because the pub HAD to close at 11pm despite being packed with people who dont want to go home yet!

Just my 2p worth!!

Sorry to hear this m8. And i got ****ed of enough when some scrote wrote/drew load of ***p on my car this morning in a carpark in the dirt... damage to vehicle is just terrible.

I have to say, while you cant tar everyone with the same brush, in my town the students really are a bunch of low life, think they know it all wan*ers!

To think these people are supposed to be the future of our country worries me!!

Most of them are only their to 'live the student lifestyle' (get ****ed every night on my(taxpayers) money) avoid coming into the real world and having to work for a living, and not to better themselves as they should!

I do agree with the posts about not blaming the government for everything. We have had a drinking culture for years despite having some of the most restrictive licensing laws in Europe. In many other Europeen countries bars can open any hours they want and in most places they don't have anything like the drink problem we have. Maybe it is because of our nanny state licensing laws that we have a whole generation (and their parents) who think it is OK to get out of your mind on booze. After all forbidden fruit is always much more enjoyable.

As a nation we need to stop blaming the government and start taking a bit more responsibilty for our own actions. That is not a political point and applies whichever party is in power.

I fully agree with you all... i'm 17 and a student.... but the things you hear people doing is appauling now... dont get me wrong i love to go out for a good drink but it seems self control is something people lack now I mean wtf is the point in getting totally lashed?? so far My prom, and loads of other big events have had a ban on alcohol (ignoring the fact thet oviously we shouldnt have it before 18 at these events anyway  ) and because of those bans its ment they have been the best times ever cause we all appreciated the events and people much better.

Wouldnt have a car, driving licence, gliding licence etc etc. without self control so im pleased i have a "crap social life"

i wonder?

as far as the 24hr drinking goes - i'm totally against that - TBH i'd vote for a dramatic reduction in drinking hours until the " geat " british public learn to act reasonably

Also gets me the way people have to try to make a political point about every problem - no matter how tenious the link is :( - the problem is the way pi55heads act and that is nothing to do with the actions of the government - not matter what party are in power!

Todays parents are yesterdays kids. Look at the kids of the 70/80's and 90's even. Is it any wonder the parents of todays kids have lower standards?

Blaming the Government or authorities is a cop out. They have no power over your immediate actions. They don't make you rip car ariels or urinate in the street, a disregard for other persons property or lack of respect for others does that.

Cars and property have always been damaged by idiots, but now its more common because as a society we accept it more, care less about our neighbour and generally are only interested in number one, and looking to blame someone for everything that happens.

My brother in law is a student and in turn acts like a complete a$$, when he is on the pi$$ with his mates the behaviour is totally shocking and I bet a few cars have paid the price for it as well.

Random damage to your pride and joy makes you bloody sick

Its not just students who get ratted, go look in the bars around the City (of London). I would'nt call those suited city traders students, but they get drunk just as others do and let rip likewise.

Sorry to hear what happened to you car :(

I went out and got drunk last night, got in a 4am, if the bar closed at 6am I would of been in at 7am :D

I've never understood mindless vandalism, and I'm really sorry to hear that you have been a victim my friend. :thumbdwn:

However, I'm a student, I have never wandered the streets pi$$ed and have never mindlessly vandalised anything. So  to you lot of stereotyping ****s.
