East Anglian Meet - Duxford, 23rd November

Featured Replies

Ok - meet is planned at Duxford for the 23rd November.

Schedule for the day still to be finalised, but probably something along the lines of:

* Meet in carpark somewhere - chat and admiration of cars :)

* Go into Duxford itself and tour the exhibition

* Meet later outside; those who wish to can then go and have a drive somewhere.... (anyone want to sort this bit?)

  • The Museum opens at 10.00 in winter, which fits in quite nicely with me reading the Sunday Times in bed with a cup of tea then taking a leisurely drive across from St Neots(ish). Sounds good. Anyone

  • Denis, Howard frequently baits me, and lets face it, he's a master bai.... err. you get the idea

Admission info taken from Duxford's website:

Admission: Adult: (person aged 19 - 59 years)

Also - food. Will we eat inside or find somewhere else? Any suggestions?

The website has this to say about facilities:

During your visit enjoy a relaxing break in one of our three Cafes; The Runway Restaurant serves hot and cold meals. Alternatively you can pop into The Coffee Shop or Cafe Duxford both of which serve cold food and drinks.

Now theres an idea!!

Andy

Is this open to all people off this board or would people object to my attendance?

Could be tempted myself (weather depending of course)

It's only another 500 mile round trip :D

I might bring the nephew along, he still hasnt forgiven me for not taking him to Oulton Park

How come Denis gets in cheaper than anyone else ;)

I am so not making any comment about that, mellow! :)

See this thread for the answer to the second part of your question... :(

Oh, OK :(

:D

We will be taking mother-in-law back to Yorkshire that weekend after a week's stay so I am not sure I can make the Sunday. OTOH what an excellent excuse to get rid of her a day early! Will report back soonest since that

Maybe up for this too.

How long from Birmingham to Duxford - about 2 hours?

I would volunteer to organise the drive but being a Fabia driver, my navigational skills are suspect. :D

Damn shame it's over four hours driving for me. :(

It sounds like my finances are going to force me to miss a really good day/weekend out. :(

You're still welcome to stay at mine if you're seriously tempted by the meet!

You can't need too much fuel for that tractor.....

Birmingham (M6 J6) to Duxford (M11 J10) is 101 miles. Route is M6 - A14 - M11. Couldn't be simpler. 2 hours would be distinctly pessimistic for that journey on a Sunday, even sticking to the 70mph limit!

I know it's a bit pessimistic, but when the M6 is involved you never know!

;)

I am definitely able to attend the Meet on 23rd November. Members who are attending may like to mark the occasion by taking photos of me standing in front of this Shackleton which I used to fly from RAF Luqa in Malta and from RAF Ballykelly in Northern Ireland!

Grump, grump!!

I have been promising myself a visit to Duxford museum for years - and this had to happen on that particular Sunday, of all days! I will be embarking on a major system upgrade that day, cutting over some time between 2am and 6am on Monday. Grrrrrrr !

Oh well, enjoy, all of you :)

Hopefully all things going well, I can make it along to this meet. Will be good to open up the vRS legs along the M11 for a bit! :D

Great! Cant wait to see the vRS.

Any good B roads in Duxford? Still addicted to B roads after the National meet! :D

Not sure mate. Sure we can find some somewhere! ;)
