TSR work and can be ordered only if you have navigation, so imho its not a win-win combination

So if you order TSR (£85 option in UK) you can activate lane assist (£850 option on SE L) through VCDS? That seems crazy, am I misunderstanding something? (I am new here!)

If that's right, I need to contact my dealer and get TSR added on...

In theory it should be correct.

But it can happen that modules in the new car are changed (especially taking into account soon to be model year change) and it could not be activated any more.

My suggestion: if somebody really wants or needs a function, to order it from the factory if he is not a gambler :).

In theory, yes. But I can only speak for my car. No matter what, I would order the cheapest option giving the A5 camera (Lane Assist, High Beam Assist, Smart Light Assist or Traffic Sign Recognition). Having the camera is mandatory to get it working :)

Not a problem, the SE L trim comes with navigation as standard.

Good points. I don't need either, but they're nice extras to have, if they're cheap. I wouldn't dream of spending £850 on lane assist, but if £85 gets the necessary physical equipment (the camera) and I stand a chance of getting a nice expensive option for nothing, then it seems like a gamble worth taking. :)

Thanks. I agree, as I said above it seems worth a shot for £85!

Lane assist £850

Light assist £250

TSR £85 <----- cheapest by a lot :)

Thanks for the replies all!

One potential issue that's just occurred to me. These options all say they are only available with electrically adjustable seats - does that mean they will work with just the drivers seat (standard on SE L) or do you also need the front passenger seat to be electrically adjustable too (expensive option on SE L)?

My car came with factory fitted HBA (and the A5) and electric drivers seat, and I´ve succesfully coded Lane Assist. So you don´t need an electric passenger seat for that :)

Excellent! I'll be calling the dealer later today then and seeing if I can get TSR added on. Only ordered on Thursday so hopefully won't be a problem - got to be worth a try...

Fingers crossed :)

What about trailer assist? Passat has it.

That looks very clever, like the way that the camera is hidden behind the VW Badge!

May I ask what's the pre requisite spec to enable land assist ?

(is it park assist ?)

Thanks

TSR is now added :) Fingers crossed I can find someone who can do the VCDS for me now! When the car eventually turns up (no confirmed build date yet)

From the sound of GaSelle and mtl above, the TSR is the cheapest option you can add which gets the necessary physical equipment - the camera - which should be possible to then activate lane assist. Lane assist = £850 option, TSR = £85. No brainer for me.

What about warranty issues if you had to go back to dealer after you have coded the car?

TSR for me was a ‘nice to have’ and TBH since I coded it I’m glad i didn’t pay extra for it.  :D

As for warranty issue, you are only coding things to work that the factory has fitted so you will have no problems.

I completely agree, actually: if you definitely want something then spec it at order because it's your only guarantee. From my point of view, I don't mind if I don't have lane assist or TSR, but if paying an extra £85 (which is nothing really in the grand scheme of things) gives me a shot at having them both, then it's worth a try. If it doesn't work out, I've not really lost out and I won't be bothered with not having lane assist. I certainly wouldn't pay £850 to have lane assist.

Of course, if I'd just ordered an L&K this wouldn't be a concern but my pockets aren't deep enough for that, and personally not too keen on the beige or brown leather either. Just MHO.

You can order the L&K with black leather as well now, I can’t help you with reducing the cost (other than using a broker) though.

Front camera on the windscreen.

Park assist does not have any connection with Lane Assist, since it uses completely different sensors.

I am in Warwick, can help you when you get the car :)

Well the black is good news, I hadn't realised that. But the extra £4500 is just too steep for me, although it's pretty good value in terms of the spec you get. Maybe next time eh? I can wait three years and by then I might be tempted with the Kodiaq anyway.

Awesome news, thanks!

Seemed to chop off the end of my reply, sorry.

I really appreciate the offer, I'll have to remember that. I used to work in Warwick actually, until Christmas. Will be in touch :)

Is there a way of making the SLA strips (like eye lashes) light up with the usual DRL? Without the dips being on?

I coded them always on with the option 100 Active Then the always burn looking nice at daytime

I have a question about which version of VCDS is best suited (for home use) for the Superb model year 2016. I'm asking this because I found this obviously quite new piece of info on Ross tech web page for HEX-USB+CAN:

As of April 15, 2016, we have learned that some 2016 and newer MQB based models may contain certain modules which are not accessible with the HEX-USB+CAN.
For 2016 and newer, our recommendation is the HEX-NET.

And the same for goes for Micro-CAN.

If this also applies to the Superb III, which modules are not accessible?

I haven't yet had a problem with HEX-USB+CAN and I did quite a few of MY2016 cars. Though still using 15.7.4 version and did not yet upgrade to beta.

I have not come across a module that my Micro-CAN can't work with.
