Tyres on Mark 3

Featured Replies

We have recently placed an order for a Mark 3 Fabia TSI DSG to replace our Mark 2. The Mark 2 was fitted with Continental tyres, which have performed very well. Foolishly, I did not remember to ask the dealer about the tyres that would be put on the new car. I thought that I heard that Skoda have now contracted with the Nexen tyre company to supply them with tyres on their new cars. I've read some positive reviews on Nexen NBlue tyres which gives me some confidence. However, could anyone with a Mark 3 Fabia please confirm that Nexen are the main tyre suppliers.

My Mark 3 Fabia TSI DSG was delivered on 27/04/2015

The tyres on it are Kumho

Seem ok - obviously haven't been through winter yet

I've got Bridgestone

Dunlop on mine

Looks pretty random. Can folks add their wheel sizes? That may make things a little clearer :)

Dunlop on mine

.......mine too sitting on 15" standard alloys.

We're getting the SE, so they have 15 inch tyres - 185/60/15. It seems that the 15 inch tyres on new Fabias come from either Kumho or Nexen, both South Korean brands. I have no beef with their safety/overall suitability, but I don't think that they come out as well as the more mainstream brands like Continental, Dunlop and Bridgestone in test reports. I've seen all these three mainstream brands on other Fabias, so I'll be asking my dealer about what sort of choice I have over the tyres. As River27 says, the winter is yet to come and I'd rather have the best set of tyres on during a typical British winter.

SE-L  ( 15 plate ) sitting on 215/45/16 Bridgestone tyres

You have no choice.  You cannot specify a particular brand of tyres as factory fit.  Just pot luck I'm afraid.

+1 in the above, your car will come with whatever brand Skoda have at the time of build.

....which, judging by what people have listed here, could be pretty much anything!

I guess you can always try some arrangament with your dealer, where he'll get you the tires you want, giving the original back to him and paying some extra money for that.

I've got Bridgestone

16" on a Style

Bridestone Turanza on 16"

Nexens here. Seem quite ok for summer use but wouldn't recommend high speeds in rain.

NEARLY bought an Se Thursday which had Nexens - always worth a check that all 4 tyres are the same, or are those days over?

Also, anyone know if Mk2 winter steels fit a Mk3?

Yes they will

Mine came with Dunlop on a 1.2 sel 90 Joe

Mine came with Dunlop on a 1.2 sel 90 Joe

! my Style (SEL) 1.2 90 came on 16" Bridgestones. The spare is a 14" - also Bridgestone.

Looks like you get Bridgestones if you go for 16" or 17" wheels.

Actually you get what the factory are fitting to rims at the time they are fitting tyres,

so what was going on Feb, March, April,,,,,, might not be as is going on July, August,,,,,,,  Pot luck.

Bridestone Turanza on 16"

Unlucky mate.

My mk2 had these.

Noisey horrible things that get worse with age until you finally give in and replace them with something half decent :D

Bridgestone Potenza on mine. I do have the 17" Wheel upgrade

Very happy with them.

Certainly better than the Continental Sport Contact 2 on the Roomster!
