New member considering used Roomster

Featured Replies

Next year sometime, my wife and I intend to buy a small mpv to replace her 1.2 Corsa. The intention is to look for a 1-2 year old car still with 1-2 years warranty left. We are early on the journey and doing research now. Now the Roomster is no longer made, we expect used prices to fall more than would otherwise be the case. Cars we are considering are the Nissan Note, Citroen C3 picasso and Renault Captur. We have looked around a Roomster and quite like it's simplicity. Having read about 1.2 Tsi versus 1.6 CR Tdi, seems like petrol would be better than diesel and probably in the 105hp version with SE trim.

Colours available are a bit bland however although some shade of blue seems the best looking. We look forward to driving the petrol versions to see what they are like and how easy they are to manoeuvre.

Hi Crystball and welcome to Briskoda.

I part-exchanged a Schitroen Berlingo for my first Roomster six years ago.  The Berlingo was to be my first and last experience of French cars and dealers.  Never again!

Behind the simple appearance of the Roomster lies a very useful MPV.  The rake of the rear seats is adjustable and the seats themselves can be slid forwards, folded, or removed completely to give the carrying capacity of a small van.

The diesel engine is good but the petrol engine is probably the better choice if your annual mileage is under 12.000.  The 1.2TSI is nice to drive and very diesel-like in its output of torque at lower revs.  I have not driven the 1.6TDI but my 1.2TSI quieter and far more refined than my previous 1.9TDI.  DSG is the icing on the cake on mine.

SE trim includes alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, dark tinted rear windows and panoramic sunroof.  Roof rails were optional on SE but can be retro-fitted by your dealer for around £200.  I think dark colours suit the Roomster particularly well.  My previous Roomster was anthracite and my present Roomster is dark metallic green.

Good luck with your search and please let us know how you get on.
