Autoglym lifeshine

Featured Replies

As per 'pipsypreturns' really.

I've had it on 2 x cars that I kept for at least 24 months/40000 miles each, and every time I washed the car (by hand) it looks like it's been polished, so the external protection is worth it. I'd haggle with the dealer over price and/or consider an company that does it as a profession though.

Never been convinced by the internal protection though, it never seems to do much.

Problem with doung it yourself....unless you know what you are doing you could F it up and no warranty/comeback if not applied by an Autoglym Lifeshine approved reseller.

My concern with the warranty is proving that you have applied the top up products as per their requirements.

Has anyone here every had to make a claim?

My first Skoda I paid for autoglym and regretted it - judging by various marks it looked like an apprentice had spent no more than 15 mins putting it on and buffing off and then spraying the interior. Took the edge off picking up the car.

The second time I paid a detailed to do a 'new car protection detail' and couldn't believe the level of care and well, detail, the chap went to. Far more than I ever could even if I had a whole day to spare. I felt it was money better spent - still debatable whether it was well spent but certainly made the car seem special - which is what you want from a new one. Over a year old now and convinced the stuff is still beading. Carbon Collective products.

Suppose the point is Lifeshine isnt a bad product, its just not great if poorly applied.....same could be said of G technic, Swissvax and some of the other big names.

A cheap way to do it might just to be buying a cheap Lifeshine package from the web and sourcing a detailer to apply it for you? That said most detailers tend to work with a specific brand or set of branded products and might refuse to work on a vehicle unless supplying the gear themselves also....naturally (and its business) they'll be making a profit on the actual products they use as well as a good rate on labour.

In fairness the £14.99 one on e-bay is literally just the lifeshine product alone...not the full retail pack the dealers supply with the bag full of car care products too which is worth around £145 RRP which isnt too bad really.

I found a detailing company who do Lifeshine for £295 which is still quite dear.

I wonder how many dealers " Valeters " are trained to use the Life shine Kit properly

Very few, if any I would think.

I think they have to be approved in order to being able to offer the warranty on the application so would suggest to me they really have to be trained. Granted will all rather depend on the dealership.

I've had it put on one car, finish was excellent and made the car very easy to keep clean for the three or so years we had it. The only thing it didnt do so well was protect the cloth trim from watermarking.....but again that was nothing a proper valet wouldnt have sorted out.

my skoda is getting svisswax Shield on when i get the car and i will do it my self. Autoglym lifeshine is probably a good Product but as With every detailing job it Depends who do the job.

remember a a detailer got a goal to make the car shiny and protected With the time it takes. The guy at the dealers got the same goal but is on the clock. and when the boss says ,this is a two hour job it is done in two hours.

it shoud be said that People that dont really care about detailing but just want something done to protect the Paint the dealers job would probably make them satisfyed

As everyone else has stated, its all in the prep, my best friend is a detailer so had my Leon cupra r lifeshined, never any trouble, my first fabia vrs the same, the replacement fabia vrs had diamondbrite, again quite a good product if applied correctly. Now my Octavia vrs is fully protected inside and out with Gtechniq, costly, but brilliant. Highly recommend.
