Understanding the "wellycooler"

Featured Replies

Hi, I know this topic has been covered before, I've spent all day reading them and im still a little confused. So far the closest I've got is this list.

Throttle Body side

1x 76-63mm 90 degree reducer in silicon
1x 63mm 90 degree silicon bends
1x 63mm 90 degree alloy bend
1x 63mm straight 100mm alloy coupler.

hot side

1x 76-63mm 90 degree reducer in silicon

1x 63mm 90 degree silicon bends
2x 63mm 90 degree alloy bend
1x 63mm x 300mm straight alloy pipe
1x 63mm 45 degree alloy bend
1x 63mm 45 degree silicon bend
1x 51-63mm straight silicon reducer to go onto the turbo outlet.
1x 63mm straight silicon coupler.

I also understand that i'll need the forge map sensor pipe, (the 110mm one right?) in place of the 100mm coupler on the throttle body side. So I think I understand how that side pieces together, but I cant quite work out how the other side goes, more specifically what am I going to do with the dv hose and the n249 thing? looking at that list it seems its going to be going straight from the intercooler to the turbo outlet right? im confused, does the original pipe get re-used that has the connections for those on it?

I'm probably overthinking it, but I really cant get my head around it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

look into getting 1.8t bam inlet manifold conversion (throttle body on right hand side) if your going welly cooler, you can get a much tidier setup.

i have managed to find a list of required bits for this, this is for a car running a bam inlet

2 x 90 degree 76mm hard pipes with beaded ends.
2 x 90 degree 76mm silicone elbows in your choice of colour - these will need adjusting to length during fitting.
2 x 90 degree 76 - 63mm reducing silicone elbows in your choice of colour.
2 x 63mm alloy joiners.
2 x 76mm alloy joiners.
1 x 76mm 250mm length of straight silicone hose in your choice of colour. This needs to be cut into 2 lengths of 125mm to go on the end tanks of the cooler.
10 x 70 - 90mm jubilee clips
2 x 50 - 70mm jubilee clips.

my question is what length are the 2 alloy joiners meant to be as it only states the size? i would also imagine id need to weld in a map sensor adaptor

anyone?

I got my setup from a mk4 golf which I no il hsve to tweek to fit and has no maf tube but its all 3" stuff, il try get ya guys some pics when im next my garage and start my trial fittings
