09571 turbocharger boost control position sensor circuit fault bringing on glow plug and eng light

Featured Replies

Hello all, I am at my wits end!! I have a mk2 Octavia vRS, crd. I have just had the turbo refurbished and new actuator fitted, car driving really well but the glow plug light comes on at low speeds and the engine management light too. No limp mode. If I turn the engine off and on the light resets for a while. I have run a diagnostic and get the above fault code. I've checked the wiring to the actuator from the top right of the engine, all ok. The company that refurbished the turbo have assured me that the actuator rod is correctly set etc. Has anyone had this problem? Thank you!

Cheers, she already has a new actuator fitted though, this is a new fault code after it was fitted.

I know its been a while but did you get this sorted as I have the same error code on my Mk2 Octy but Skoda cant find whats wrong, although they have not changed the sensor as they are not 100% sure its at fault as car was remapped to 210bhp so could be that which is causing fault apparently.

Is it saying 'implausible signal' ?

If yes, maybe sensor fault or wiring.

If not, it's telling you the actuator rod isn't correctly set up.

Not reaching it's requested boost ...etc

Thanks for the reply,

P2562 Turbocharger boost control position sensor A circuit.

Skoda had it in for two hours early last year but couldn't say for sure what was wrong and blamed the remap.  They did vacuum/voltage checks too and examined the cables/ connections.

Starts with the coil light flashing then it goes off and after about the third time the mil light comes on for a day or two.  Coil light only comes on when car is stopped or put in reverse after a run.

Also showed a knock sensor too but this one has not come on since deleting warnings.

  • 2 weeks later...

Took car out today with OBD linked to laptop, all boost settings are fine when being driven at all speeds. Stopped in layby and nothing.  Selected reverse went back 2 feet nothing,,selected drive and 2 ft forward stopped and coil light came on.  Every time gear changed and 2 ft movement coil light came on and boost position fault again.

Turned out that we can make the coil light come on sitting still just by pressing the brake down 2-3 times. It would appear that it is losing vacuum which tells the  boost sensor to lift when the cpu isnt requesting it and that would account for the error.

Ordered a new pressure converter valve to see if it is at fault before throwing lots of money towards the turbo.

Will let you know if we get any results.

Check the egr cooler bypass actuator. Checking vacuum when cold will not show any leak after the switch valve and possible not while engine is off.

Cheers Tony,

Changing the  pressure converter valve on Friday to see if it changes.  When we drove it around the by pass with lap top connected to OBD the performance was spot on and all parameters were as they should be. It was only when at temperature and parked that we managed to find the vacuum fault.  We blocked off the exhaust vac pipe and it held vacuum and we couldnt get it to fail, un blocked the exhaust side and it failed.

Cant get the fault to happen when engine is cold.

Thanks for the advice and if the fault still appears after the new part then we will try what you suggest.

Fingers crossed it all goes well.  Will update when I know the outcome.

Hi all,

Well we changed the vacuum pressure converter and its sorted the problem I have had for over a year now.

We found the fault by accident, we had the obd connected to the laptop and noticed the vacuum dropping to 80% then 70% every time the brake was depressed. When driving the vacuum is not affected thats why the warning only comes on at low speeds when braking because the ECU sees the boost being asked for when it shouldn't be and so flags up a warning.

There was a vacuum being pulled from the exhaust side of the switch through the (pictured) damper and with the new one it doesnt do that and the problem is no more.

Hope this will help someone else with the same problem.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi zipper

That sounds like exactly like my problem. Where abouts is the pressure converter and can it be replaced without any vcds coding as I don't have access to that?

All the best

Rory

Hi Rory,

The valve is on the bulkhead at rear of engine.

Pull the pipe out of the air intake and see if its pulling a vacuum when on tickover,,,it shouldnt be according to the new one I put on this week.

I have attached pics to show the layout on mine.

Hope you get sorted.

Zipper.
