I don't need winter tyres because I am so awesome thread

Featured Replies

I doubt very much the supermarkets fit all season or winter tyres either. They'll likely be the same fitted to their emergency services counterparts

Oh yes they do, but again "location location" - probably more so than their emergency counterparts. Think, if supermarket can't deliver they don't get money, not that issue for the emergency services.

Edit:- some for most of the couriers and big delivery companies - again "location location" - which impressed me a bit!

hmmm which is more important, the emergency services or the lorry with my Tunnocks wafers in it?

The Security Van with Cash Money getting through, and the fuel tankers, the Lorries with Bottled Gas,

but when the power goes down in Pitlochry, not only does the ATMs go down

so do the Petrol / Diesel Pumps in Pitlochry, (Blair Atholl has a Generator though at the Filling Station.)

But then when the Power Goes off, so do the Tills in the shops, so Cash can even be a problem when shopping

if it is a Multinational Chains shop.

The Utility Companies need to get through to do the emergency repairs, then be there when things go back on to assist in premises.

It happened just a few years back.

Happened on Arran as well, Phones / Computers go off including mobiles, and ATM's.

Unfortunately, one of them needs to provide a service to make money, the other is given money to provide a service - it is the way of our world?

You didn't mention when the leaver is slipped to the left, it makes much better crackles and popples in the exhaust :) If yours doesn't yet, you need an MPE :)

Are you sure that's not just the symposer. :)

Stop playing with the baiters. You will upset them. :D

He's not upset that easily. :)

This winter the chance of blackouts is at an all time high.

So you should all be grateful I'll be fitting winters to travel to one of the biggest power stations in the UK. And yes I do get called out in the middle of the night and usually in the wort conditions. :)

Lee.

I can't hear the synmposer for my MPE :D Well perhaps I might if I ever shut my window :) Cotswold BMW were doing a deal on the 135 MPE that was about half the price of  a regular BMW priced one (it is 100% authentic)

My local dealer tried to sell me some winters for my 1er, but as we now live in a tropical climate I don't think I need them :D

So record High November Temperature since 1946 in Wales 22.4*oC,

and tonight parts of Tayside in Scotland at below 4 degrees, and up the A9 passed Pitlochry it is just above freezing on the trunk road.  Gritting / Salt required.

As you have said location, location..........

I have witnessed many times idiots from central belt & south drive up to CG to ski & wonder why there is snow everywhere & they suddenly find they have no grip except for a stupid pair of snow socks............thing is they get stuck trying to put them on, or worse still hit you before they realise they need them. Or they have them on & wonder why they have fallen apart ..................because of the mileage they have to do in the snow to get to CG...............

numbnuts.......

It's chuffin cold up in the North Pole too. Santa's elves must be freezing.

Its not thaaat cold on the north pole.

Can get almost as cold a couple of hours from where i live. Perfect driving conditions when its that cold!

I've seen the coats the Polar Bears wear. It must be cold

Edit: it does of course depend on your understanding of my use of the words 'chuffin' cold' :D

Im guessing we have different understanding of that phrase :p

Biggest problem when it gets really cold are displays in the cars.

Had a Focus rental car some years back, and it stood overnight outside in -35c, it took ages before the LCDs worked :p

No doubt written a review somewhere.

'These chains are useless..made no difference Blah blah..'

At least the Fiats handbrake would work on that hill :D

I've got my snow tyres ready. Just waiting on the cold weather.

Hehe. I like that one!

Picked up my wheel yesterday. In good condition. Guy has used them once but ordered a new Octavia vRS and they won't fit over the brakes any more;

Is that because you have a smaller wheel and bigger profile on the winters?

My winter wheels/tyres are the exact same size as my normal wheels.

No I stick with exactly the same OE size (Insurers can't complain) but the squidgy rubber makes everything a little bit more compliant............and vague :D

not sure if Squidgy is a technical term as I haven't seen it on any literature :)

Haha. I see. I'm pretty sure squidgy is an officially recognised technical term! :D

I love the way you bring the words 'rubber', 'squidgy' and 'compliant' into the thread.

Or maybe I just need a very long run :)
