Two garages can't get my Inspection warning off- help!

Took my 63 plate VRS in for a major service at 19,000 miles last week to my usual place (a normal garage with a good history with Skodas). They have been excellent with everything but couldn't get the inspection note off- this is on maxidot. He phoned up his mate at a VW specialist who said he would sort it- he plugged it into a program which didn't do anything, then VCDS which also didn't do anything (though I can finally unlock all the doors without pressing the button twice).

 

The Skoda dealer in Sheffield we got our other two Skodas from (but not this one) want £25 to turn it off. Even though we've spent £20,000 with them since 2012. I'm not really willing to pay that- is there anything else I can try? They got the service note off by the way, just not the inspection.

Had this issue with my monte, guy I know with VCDS sent a report to Ross Tech as he couldn't figure it out either!

They replied with a guide on how to do it and finally the "inspection now" had gone!

Where are you located?

Try this.....

Ignition in off position, turn on hazard warning lights, press and hold the 0.0 button on cluster, turn ignition half way and message 'are you sure' should be displayed. Press 'ok' and then turn off the ignition, turn off the ignition and that should do it.

This will also reset the oil change indicator if you do not activate the hazard warning lights.

Welcome to the club, LukeB.  There are a number of us who have experienced the same problem, our cars are all of a similar age. The earlier suggestion by Jonro2009 should sort your problem, it did mine.  I just cannot understand the dealers not being able to cope with this,  I have just had another service and specifically asked for them to reset both my displays as the Inspection one was going to be 'miles' out as I had reset it some months later.  As you can probably imagine it was not reset and I've had to do it myself, so you might want to bare this in mind when you next service comes up. ODIS can adjust the wrong settings in the dash panel.

The inspection field can easily be reset using vcds but if odis has carried out the wrong adjustment then 3 fields need to be adjusted to reset the light:

fix: distance since service - set to 0

fix: time since service - set to 0

oil quality - set to good oil quality

Only when the fingers are attached to someone who knows what they are doing.

 

This is where some dealers fail... their tech’s do not know how to code some things properly

Lets hope the Volkswagen Group are currently ensuring that their Official Partnership / Dealerships Workshops are 

training up enough additional Qualified Technicians to deal with 1.2 Million Diesel Engine cars requiring 'the fix' to remove the Defeat Device.

from when the vehicles start coming in from 2016.

Maybe employing more fully trained / qualified Mobile Technicians in VW Assist Vans with the Equipment to go to peoples Homes or Workplaces to save Owners from having to take vehicles into Dealerships where only Software Updates are required.

 

After all that 'Emissions Scandal' work has been done,

there might be Employees in Workshops that can set Service Intervals, One touch opening etc,

and the Sales staff will know which Technician to direct the customers to.

It would be nice if all dealer groups shared the same ethos as my current employer regarding training.

my previous employer had the opinion that "if you weren't in work then you weren't making him money" so training never took place. Safe to say they are no longer a VW group recognised dealer.

Switch ignition off

Press and hold the odometer trip reset button (next to the speedometer)

With the button still pressed, turn ignition on (do not start engine)

You will see "SERVICE" appear on the display.

Turn the button to the right (clockwise) for about 5 seconds

If you have the stick then try this method.
