Dealer I'm buying from is stopping selling Skodas

I'm expecting my Citigo in mid-November.  My dealer has just let me know that they will no longer be selling Skodas at the end of the year. Anyone know if this is a general trend or I've just been a bit unlucky?

This is the trend. At the start of the year. Dealers were told to remode and update showrooms. Those that couldn't will lose the franchise

Ooh? Does that mean my local dealership will close? There ain't no hope in hell I'll go back to Westover Skoda if they do so I dunno what I'd do without them

It might do. They might just need to update the inside and signage

Couple gone from around here isn't there now?

The dealer I got mine from is ceasing trading, sell Peugeot, fiat, seat as well (Crawley Down) think it is being flatened for Gatwick (more parking for another runway???)

This is who I am buying from - didn't know they were stopping selling all the brands they have there.

Yeah, and my dad got a rapid spaceback about this time last year from Richard, who is going to caffyns in Tunbridge Wells but not until December. I think they are there for a few more weeks? Sometime in November or I maybe wrong ( end of the month?)

I'm also dealing with Richard Haughton.  They say end of year - least I hope so because my car is week 44 build (this Monday) and is therefore mid Nov delivery at the earliest.

Argh ok, my dad has said that he had an email from Richard as they get on, and has told him he starts on the 3rd December, but mentioned that they might re build somewhere in Crawley to meet the demand (but don't take my word just in case) hope all goes well

What spec have you gone for? I wish I hadn't got rid of mine :( although I do love the Ecoboost engine in my Fiesta and the heated windscreen!!

I've gone for an SE, ASG (wife doesn't have a manual licence), dynamic interior, PID and the black wheels.  I suspect I'll add the tinted windows later but I was on a mission to keep the monthly as low as possible. Also think I'll need to buy some mats, preferably rubber ones.  Where's the best place to get them from if Richard can't do me a good deal?

have you actually test driven the ASG?

opinions on here are mixed,

opinions on the gearbox is definitely like marmite, some like, some hate it

from my reading if you are a reasonable sedate driver it is fine, if you like to give it a bit of beans now and again the changes are a bit slow and not as smooth as they could be compared to a dsg box

Erm, I think I actually brought mine of eBay but it was from Caffyns in Tunbridge Wells might be worth contacting Richard first though?

I have driven the ASG (do people really buy these things without trying them?)  I've been driving Smarts for years and the ASG is a much better single clutch auto and perfectly fine for my needs.  I'd prefer a torque convertor auto (or twin clutch, though they are a bit weighty, and the VW DSG isn't that good) but they are few and far between in small cars and have a disproportionate impact on acceleration and fuel economy. Single clutch automated is best for economy. I have something else to satisfy the sports car need when it arises.

A Housing estate they told me! and the parts/service centre down the road is going as well. Mind you, didn't trust that place much.

Oh what!! I was hoping the service was going to stay, I now have a 'mutter' Ford Fiesta but I take my cars there, even though I have a ford garage just walking distance from work! If you remember pug and fiat moved from near the station, so you never know they might relocate again !
