Greenline now on UK configurator

Featured Replies

Although the engine doesn't appear in the engine specs, the downloadable brochure still remains as was, plus nothing on the price lists, the Greenline now appears in the UK configurator with its prices set.  Note it is not an individual model but appears as an option after you've selected any trim apart from the L&K (so you can effectively 'Greenline' whatever spec you want L&K aside).  Some brief playing shows it takes the 18 inch alloys off the SE-L and won't let you spec different wheels which I guess isn't a massive surprise.

In summary, in Greenline III spec...

Hatch - 96g CO2/km

S £20,900

SE and SE Business £22,255

SE-L £25,050

Estate - 97g CO2/km

S £22,100

SE and SE Business £23,455

SE-L £26,250

Is the SCR technology reliable enough to consider the green line version?

The great news for me is that I can now specify a heated screen, Heated seats and Rear wiper with the SIII Greenline which on my current Greenline was not available.  I have moaned to myself about this on multiple winter mornings at 5am when I go to my car and have to scrape the windscreen ice by hand or wipe the moisture off the rear screen manually before I reverse down my driveway in the dark.

The only downside I can see is 17 inch wheels rather than 16 inch.  I prefer a higher profile tyre and 16 inch would have been great, but I can live with 17's.

Is there any mention of the SIII Greenline having the firmer lowered sporty suspension of the current car ?  That is something that I would happily lose.

With the larger 66 litre tank I am looking forward to seeing if I can squeeze 950 miles out of a tankful.  :strong:

Not planning to order yet as I want to squeeze another 18 months out of my current motor and I want to see what the fallout is for the SCR cars from the emissions problem.

I currently have a 2013 Greenline FL Elegance Estate, so luckily I have rear wiper and heated seats, I did have a heated windscreen on a previous Passat which is really useful but for the number of times I used it I can do without. Also look forward to the larger tank, previous Passat took over 70 litres.

Totally agree about the lower suspension, basically sports suspension, I would prefer the comfort of standard suspension. The wife has had two BMW M Sport cars in 3 and 5 series during my time with the Skoda, both gave a more comfortable ride than my Greenline.

According to this article it will again come with lowered suspension   http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/superb/92608/efficient-skoda-superb-greenline-gets-over-75mpg

think it has a 15mm suspension drop over the other models.

Its just a shame the bhp is a bit low for a car of this size

The 120bhp is not brilliant but its better than you might think.  I've driven a couple of the new 1.6tdi engines and I wasn't at all frustrated because of any lack of power and I drive a 170.  120bhp (250nm torque) even in a Superb is more than adequate for a normal daily commute - remember the car has become lighter compared to the MKII as well.  Okay, so you might miss the extra power for some overtaking manoeuvres but it is a surprisingly willing engine and makes perfect sense for a company car!  It is smoother than the 105bhp engine in the MKII as well.  The 150TDi is probably the sweet spot of the diesel range but if the budget was limited and it was a choice of another brand with a slightly higher powered engine versus a 1.6TDI Superb, I'd be taking the Superb!

The power is ok for me, you get used to it (my previous four were all 2.0TDI 140), and it's cheaper for BIK.

In reality the power is fine for most people, its just most people think they need more.
