Candy White or Metal Grey

Featured Replies

Hoping to put a deposit down on a new Vrs Octavia Diesel this week, but can't make up my mind on what colour....candy white or metal grey? I'm leaning towards the grey as it's very understated, but then again do I want that in a VRS ! Iv seen a few candy white vrs mark III around where I'm living at the moment Kildare in Ireland anyone from here?

How's it going. Am in Dublin. Have seen a few in white around the place and they do stand out. Not a massive fan of the metal grey myself so probably biased but the white does look well. Saw candy white on Thursday last week, with the smarter wheels it's a different car to a "standard" look

Grey, it's very understated especially with the black pack + (if you can get it).

Pilsen have a metal grey demo with the black+ pack at the moment if you want a look. I went for the candy white myself (bottled it going for the rallye green). I did consider the metal grey myself but I thought it was a little too understated but its still a lovely colour when clean and shiney.

I was in the same situation. Went for Metal Grey, it is a strange sort of grey close up. I'm not regretting it:

It's a grey from me. I'd go mad trying to keep a white car clean.....

well I have had a lot of colours and I must admit that the candy whit is by far the best I have had.

Am now debating on an L&K and will proberly have the candywhietagain

It's a tough one lads.....

I went Metal Grey with a vRS estate, with black pack. Does look awesome when it's gleaming, however I do think it shows the dirt badly after a few days. I went with the anthracite wheels as well, and in hindsight I think a lighter silver would have broke it up a bit more.

I did initially consider white, but there are a lot of white cars on my commute. I do get a lot of positive comments on the colour as it has a bit of a green tint under certain lights.

Good luck with your decision. I toiled over it for days before placing the order. I seen someone picking up their shiney new Metal Grey on the day I placed the order and it made my mind up there and then!

I have a candy white elegance, ok, it's not a VRS but paint is paint.....

Looks great the day you clean it, gets dirty real quick.... Metal grey does look good.

Good luck with the decision.

Have passed a standard looking spec in metal grey and earlier passed another white vrs since i posted last, fwiw, i'm sticking with choice of white  :p

any closer to a decision?   :D

I was edging towards Grey and now I'm edging back towards white....I actually pasted a standard octavia in metal grey and it wasn't great then I seen one in white and thought it looked better...anyway have to make up my mind in the morning I'm going ordering!

If you're that close between the two, you'll need to see both in the flesh. That should swing it for you!

Ordered today....White it is!

The white is nice.....but I'm biased.

Where did you order from ?

Metal grey is lovely, looks practically the same as the Carbon Grey available on Golf GTI/GTD's (I have a Carbon GTD).

Stone chips on the body work show up on it (with the primer being white - i picked up an annoying series of 4 chips on one of my rear arches after only a couple of weeks) and the paint seems more brittle than Candy White (as on my Mk3 Octavia). The Grey does hide dirt surprisingly well considering how very near black it is as a colour and looks fab when clean.

If I could have my time again though, whilst the colour doesnt do loads for me Id probably go with silver....hides dirt and chip damage well and easy to keep fresh.

Did you plump for the White in the end Shea? I'm torn between the Candy White, Black or Race Blue. Haven't seen many of the Blue around Dublin.

Mine's white, looks great with the black pack even if my mates call it a taxi!

A very quick taxi ;)

I'd have metal grey over the candy white (coming from someone who has a candy white Octavia!).

White is too common and the grey is very understated - quite classy. I'd have had the grey or silver if I'd have had a factory order when I bought my Octavia (new).

I went with the Candy White, I think the Grey is too plane for the vrs, and it shows up every mark or scrape. I don't know how white is too common? Most of the vrs III around the Dublin area were Blue, Black and Grey... Seen only a few white ones and 1 red.

I wouldn't go for black myself I'm just not a fan, they are so hard to keep clean too

Blue does look good, seen one in Naas today...

Is yours a standard octavia III or vrs? As I don't think the standard Octavia III looks great in white...there's just something about the vrs in white. I know it's only different bumpers, lower with bigger wheels but they make big difference!

No, mines an elegance with the optional golas 18" alloys and 'black pack' (boot spoiler, mirrors and front grille).

I just feel white has become a very common colour....

Steve :)

Metal Grey, no black pack as I wanted chrome grill and Pictoris alloys. Very happy.a758112918cd1ec4a1c1c4db1262574f.jpg862e71d94ed53bc0915218ef199670d7.jpge0d66defdde6d6f802b9f30ee8dd904e.jpg
