High beam pattern

Featured Replies

I unscrew this kind of screw... But I think that is holding the headlight to the body. Some kind of sideways adjustment... To fit the bumper correctly. Had to push the light back and tighten again. After that I think my headlights are to narrow.. Not spread enough, but I have adjusted them now :)

The highbeam is still kind of crazy :p

  • I think you have it.   The height of the main beam (halogen bulb) can be adjusted seperately to the bi-xenon projector.   I can't be 100% sure on the Superb but I imagine it will be very similar t

  • When I got my car the lights were set way too low. Returned it to the dealers and they adjusted the lights to the correct angle. Mine was lighting about 50m ahead of me and no further though.

My bulb was not seated correctly in the housing, so its all good now.   Holding the bulb in flush/square while also putting the bent wire 'clip' on is really tricky. You need two small hands, and ca

Sorry guys...forgot to ask from my dealer about adjusting the highbeam:(

Hehe... I try to take it with mine!

I kow this is an old thread, but i hope you can answer my question, if both xenon and the H7 is supposed to act as the high beam on the superb2 FL ?

On my car i noticed that if i turn on high beam by pushing the stalk away, only the H7 wil come on, and the xenon pattern is unchanged. The xenons remains dipped beam. I thought they were supposed also to take the shutter up , and be high beam, but maybe there is no shutter in the lamp ?

The number for the lamp is 3T1 941 017 H.

Off course the prev. owner has done a lot of tweaks, including changing the country to Rest of the world. I know a lot of settings is country dependant, and is this one of them, and how do i get by it ? Or is it impossible to have the xenons act like high beam, even though its a bi-xenon ?

The system is bi-xenon with high-beam assist. The beam patterns from the HID and halogen lamps tend to blur into each other so it's not necessarily easy to see where the two meet. The HID beam change from low to high beam is achieved by moving a shutter which changes the focus of the beam.

If you are using the headlight flash, only the halogen bulbs will light, since it takes a little time for the HIDs to light up and focus and maybe this is what you are seeing?

If you think there is a fault, you should get a diagnostic scan done on the headlight controller.

Thanks  for your answer,

Im pretty sure that the xenon pattern does not change at all when i move the stalk away from myself, into permanent high beam.

I have tried holding in front of af wall, with just the dipped beam on. I can clearly see the xenon beam pattern on the wall. When i set perm. high beam, the xenon pattern does not change at all, just the H7 lights up. I cannot hear any shutter either.

I found this

And that is not how my xenon performs, the xenon "line" remains flat no matter what.

I have scanned, and have no error codes in the control modules. At start up they do the horizontal/vertical dance.

Any idea ?

I'm out of ideas at this point. Maybe changing the country setting back to the default for your region might help? There is variation in lighting regulations around the world and it's possible that changing the country setting would affect lighting performance. It's worth a try anyway if you have VCDS.

@mikkelvitus - probably worth posting a full autoscan from VCDS :)

Hi :)

Well i went to see an ekspert yesterday, and in fact it was obvious that the xenon did in fact go to high beam together with the H7.

Im a bit puzzled, because it did not work that way the other day, even after i enabled Bi xenon headlights in the BCM. But maybe i forgot to recycle ignition ?

But yes now noth the xenons and the halogen works as high beam - also when i flash the high beam by moving the stalk towards me, the shutter on the xenons go up and changes the beam pattern. Yeah :)
