Hi All - a busy weekend and a manic start to the week - so only getting chance to write-up my weekend detailing now.

 

After a busy few weeks with one thing or another - managed to get Saturday morning to enjoy on my car detailing.

The .:R36 had passed the MOT on Thursday - no issues or advisories - plus 3 years today since I purchased the .:R36,

so definitely worthy the celebration of a wash n wax!  :sun:

 

Perfect timing too, as the Halloween Pack from the guys at WaxPack arrived on Friday; plus I had a couple of other things to use as well.

 

 

So the selection of products in-hand allowed me to test a new Snow Foam, Shampoo, Microfibre BOA cloth and Wax.

There were some wheel products in there too - Liquid Elements Dust Cracker and MadCow Wheel Sealant,

but I didn't plan to use these for the .:R36... and will trial them on the Seat Exeo when I get chance and share a review.

 

 

A typical foam, rinse and wash routine, but to elaborate on detailed products used:-

 

- Foamed with AD foam lance using Wilson's Chocolate Snow foam

- Wheels with Auto Finesse Revolutions and WoWo wheel mitt

- Rinse

- Wash with Dooka wash pad and Autoperfekt Shampoo

- Rinse

- Sprayed with Meguiars Last Touch rinse dilution (rinse/drying aid)

- Dry with Definitive Wax Concours drying towel

- Alloys, door shuts and awkward crevices blown dry with Metro-Vac blower.

- Door shuts wiped down with Sonax BSD.

- Tyres with Definitive Wax Tyre Dressing.

- Door rubbers etc treated with Gummi Pflege

- Feed the Bead applied with Auto Finesse Handi-Puck and Farecla 80mm wax pad; 10 minute cure - 1 panel at a time (rear end test only)

- BMD Taurus applied with Auto Finesse Handi-Puck and Farecla 80mm wax pad; 5 minute cure - 2 panels at a time (remainder of car)

 

 

 

Feedback for the products used:-

 

SnowFoam - the exact quantity supplied to do 1 full lance mixture. Foamed well, Bilt Hamber type foaming quality and cleaned very well.

 

Shampoo - plenty suds, but just didn't feel as slick as other shampoos - maybe needed a stronger mix - but overall, nothing special IMO.

 

Wax 1 - Feed the Bead, a Show wax, so I didn't want on the whole car - only tested on the rear section.

Certainly not the best to apply, very grabby. Even with added QD on the applicator - it wasn't great.

Cure time 5-10 mins and buffed off easily enough and decent gloss was evident. But on the whole - not for me.

I will monitor the durability on the rear section, but not expecting much from a show wax.

Buffed off using a new plush microfibre to replace my CarPro BOA - very nice, but I will monitor it after a few washes.

 

Wax 2 - some further research for Winter Protection - I then switched to BMD Taurus on the remainder of the car.... so glad i did as well.

An absolute breeze to apply - the wax loads onto the applicator well, spreads thin and buffs off very easily within the 5 - 10 min cure time.

The results were very pleasing on the day, maybe not as much flake pop as recent test products; but certainly gave a very deep and slick gloss to the paintwork.

 

Wheel wax topped up with Angelwax Bilberry sample pot. Such an easy product to use..... love this stuff, except the strong red colouring maybe!

Shampoo - consistency was more liquid than gel like - so I should have guessed it needed a stronger dilution.

Show wax - not a fan at all; on the panels I completed - the result was nice enough, but just too much like hard work!

Very nice!! The blue really comes up so nice!

 

Does the snow foam smell of chocolate? I'm using ValetPro Ph Neutral at the moment (until it runs out) which has a nice lemon smell. (not that the smell makes much of a sale point)

I used the snow foam but again couldn't get it to stick so wasted it really. Should of used it on the vans lol.

I poured the full bottle of shampoo in and it was nice to work with. Although the 'self drying' additive that was mentioned didn't do much!

Agree on the wax! I'm not sure if you have ever tried Dust cracker from LE but, I used it on Saturday and it's fantastic!

All in all sounds like a great day detailing for you & results speak for themselves!

Thanks - its a lovely blue especially under the correct light.

 

The foam was trying hard to smell of something like choc - but not really all that. 

 

 

You cant go far wrong with Valet pro really.

 

Smell isnt a selling point for me either; but i will say i enjoy using KKD Blizzard in Tutti Frutti - it does smell great 

I should also have mentioned - the Halloween pack had a nice Black Cherry air freshener in there too.

 

Generally I use Cherry or Cranberry air freshener in the .:R36..... so quite happy with the Black Cherry scent

Nice silver spray bottles used actually - hope I can re-use these at some point....
