Skoda Octavia Security

If its the same problem that has been with VW since the Mk1 Golf, then its a design fault. The Mk1 Golf was astoundlingly easy to get into and I haven't seen (and don't particularly want to see) the removed posts re: gaining entry to the Octy. It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a similar method.

Stick with your Clifford and your Disklok, Geoff - you won't find many better ways of deterring a thief.

I would suggest buy an alarm with a remote C/L module. May be cheaper than either aftermarket kits or OEM Skoda kit.

Howard,

My alarm will scream like hell if anyone manages to unlock the doors, never mind actually opening one of them ;)

I was just asking as it could be useful for others :)

i though so as well but if i buy an alarm then i would feel compelled to get a thatcham cat1, however it is a little pricey and the insurance reduction would not make it financially viable (

If your car has the Skoda Cat 2 immobiliser, there are Cat2 to 1 Conversions available for less than

Does anyone know if the Seat Leon has the same door handles as Skodas?

i know someone with a leon just had a blanking plate fitted over the drivers door lock at his local dealer.

Its fair to assume they're the same, as the Octy & the Leon are both Golf IV based i believe ?

people are not listening what does just putting a blank instead of a barrel achieve?

Can the window opening/closing function of the convenience system be deactivated in isolation, K? (It doesn't matter to me whether or not this also affects the sunroof). If it can, though, there is still no obvious way of letting a would-be thief know that it has been done - and hence preventing attempted entry (and damage to the car) by the 'usual' means.

PS I've just reread this thread and seen that Nick's dealer said that deactivating the window function is not possible.

So Big K

If reomving the barrel does not help, is there any way of removing the part that goes with the barrel that activates the windows ? (if this is the offending piece)

don't know about de-activating comfort closing am looking into this regarding the blank then yes it will put some thieves off but most of them are clued up these days and would probably know there is still a way of getting in.

K, some members may be displaying more posts on a page than the default setting. Could you please edit your post to give the post number you are referring to - as listed top right of each post? And thanks for your prompt replies! :D

K, is it your view that members are wasting their time even considering delocking?

Thanks

graham i'm not talking about the handle i'm talking about the actual lock mechanism it's self. people may be confused by my posts you have 3 parts to lock 1. handle 2. barrell 3. lock mechanism. ie the barrell operates the mechanism don't want to post too much detail if you want further info drop me a pm and i will explain all.
