Upgraded Brakes On Furby Vrs ?

Featured Replies

Ive got my GT Brembo brakes now.

Just deciding whether to paint the rear calipers red to match or get the Brembo's painted green to match the rears ;)

Really good bite with the DS2500s. Considering size of discs they made the Fabia stop very well.

RS brakes seem good though, although I'll wait until they are fully bedded in.

picked up my fabia vRS a week ago and after 1050 ish miles driving i reckon the brakes are fantastic.

But thats after coming from a heavy mk3 golf TDI with 256mm discs and dinky joke rear drums so......... a fairly foregone conclusion ;)

My Furby has been in for the brakes to be checked as I really thought they'd gone sh**e.

Drove the dealers vRS and that felt the same - come to the conclusion after driving the wifes octy vrs that because the furby is so small and light it just feels scary when you first hit the pedal and think nothing is happening.

Give it a good boot full of brake pedal and you do hang in the seats.

On the tyre front I'm thinking of swapping the wheels from the octy onto the furby to see if the 17" Conti's make any difference to the grip. Pilots were better than expected in the snow.

OK I will put my head above the parapet and yes I'm running EBS greenstuff on stock disks on both my fabia's. BOTH cars suffer from the occassional squeal (unknown cause), BUT the stopping power of the automatic is vastly improved even from cold. As for the TDi have found them to be a lifesaver! The car stops on a six pence and have done 2500 miles so far with no apparant ill-effects and apparantly little wear, certainly the emergency stop with the pupils after the first few is an eye-popping experience. Interestingly a postive effect is that the asr is much more effective with little evidence of the knocking hammer!!!! I do think that it is easy to abuse these pads and hence they reputation when pushed beyond their limits! Hence the melting stories, getting too much heat into the disks and others. But for day to day use, NOT track or boy racer driving I think they hard to beat as they are quiet and bite well from cold.

I'll now retire into my bunker........

swapping the octy wheels may improve grip but it will drastically affect gearing. If it's only a short term change then no probs.

I can't recommend 17s with 205/40s highly enough though. :D
